Now that we are four weeks into school closure and have all started to learn a lot about home learning, both from the perspective of being teachers and parents, we have decided to refine the work we are setting and wanted to make a few things clear. The most important thing for us all at Petteril Bank – more than any lesson – is that you look after your child’s and your own mental and physical health. During this difficult time, it is important for all of us – children and adults – to know that we are loved and to share plenty of hugs. Some days may be easier than others. We do not want Home Learning to be stressful for any of you. Our overarching message is for pupils to enjoy learning within the home, to do what they can, but we also understand the limitations of this too. We know that it is not always easy to ask your child/children to sit down and concentrate at home. We know there may be other things on your mind and other pulls on your time. We also know that teaching is not easy day after day, week after week. At the start of each week, teachers will post a weekly ‘Top Ten’ of suggested activities on ClassDojo and/or on Tapestry (For EYFS) and the school website. We will also set tasks on Studyladder and put links to websites or other useful resources on our website and Facebook page. Each day we would like you to try to complete an English activity, some Maths, and one other subject. Also, we want you to continue with some daily exercise in whatever shape or form makes you all happy. Some days you may achieve all of this, some days it may be one or two activities and others it will be none. That’s OK. We know you are trying your best. We will try our hardest to provide you with activities that do not require resources that you may not have at home, will limit the tasks that rely on the use of the internet and we will also try to explain any subject-specific vocabulary that we use. HEADTEACHER – Mr J Askew

Dear Families,

Firstly, we hope that you and your families are all well.

Please message teachers using ClassDojo or use the contact form on our website if you need any support with any of the activities we set. Although our school is closed, we want you to know that we are still here for you, and will continue to be so.

It is also important that you have some fun where you can too; baking, building models and exploring new things together are all equally important. Please keep sending your photographs to teachers via ClassDojo (and/or Tapestry for EYFS) as we love seeing what you are getting up to.

So remember: do what you can, avoid the stress and love and hug your family. You can always contact your teacher via the ClassDojo app or request a phone call from us using the contact form on the school website.

For now-stay safe and look after each other. We are all in this together.

From all of us at Petteril Bank
