contribute to the creation of your product?

How will you develop these skills during the A2 project?

Digital technology- What

equipment/software packages did you use to produce your production?

In class we acquired the skill to set up the jib and we practiced using the jib in the classroom so we were confident in setting it up ourselves.

For our final piece we took the jib to the Historic quay and took more varied shots such as up height or a sweeping shot.

The skill of using the jib will be transferable for A2 as we could decide to se it in our project which is a music video and would be ideal to use a very wide range of shots.

Post production- What software did you

use to create your production?

- Discuss specific features of the software.

In the editing of the video we used a lot of these programs and we decided that for the soundtrack we could use garage band, which has a vast choice of instruments to, chose from. For the titles of the project we chose to use live type, which had lots of different fonts to choose from and also different animations in which to present it in our video. Photoshop was used to create

These skills are transferable as the sound syncing will be very useful in the music video. The live type skills could also be used in a2 as in a music video titles could be needed. Photoshop skills could be used at a2 as we do the digipack for the coursework.

the logos for the production companies used to make the video conventional. Final cut was the software we used to actually produce the video and edit all of the video together and sync in the sounds and voiceovers.

Research and Planning- What tasks did you

complete when preparing to film your sequence?

- How did your planning help the smooth progression of your film?

We researched into the typical conventions of a film noir. We then looked into various things such as mise en scene and hairstyles of the time in which would set our video. To help the filming go smoothly we created shot lists, which showed us exactly which shots needed to be filmed at the location, and which order we would do them in. We also created power points, which showed our understanding of the genre of film noir, and also we produced a prezi which showed the research into the background of film noir. We also had to create a prezi on a film from the film noir genre of our choice.

These skills are transferable to A2 as we can research into music videos and the background to the genre. The skills for creating prezi’s and PowerPoint will be transferable when we go into the production side of the coursework.

the film noir genre that we chose to analyze and create the prezi’s and PowerPoint’s for. When analyzing these we looked for the typical conventions, which appeared in them all we also looked for different things, which would make our video look for realistic such as titles.

A2 when we analyze music videos from different genres, the skill to look for different conventions can also be transferable to this years coursework.

Creativity - were our ideas for your portfolio imaginative and unique or did you adhere to conventions?

For our opening sequence we were imaginative and unique in creating our own storyline but in the way we created the storyline we did adhere to the typical conventions for example we used some of the stereotypical characters such as a sleazy detective and a femme fetale.

In sticking to the conventions and also being creative we produced our own script, which was creative, and then to be conventional we used the script as a voiceover, which was conventional to the genre.

These skills were transferable to A2 as with the coursework we have to be creative in what we want to do and also adhere to typical conventions of the music video.
