Value of the Week – Enthusiasm

I am practising enthusiasm when I: • look forward to something eagerly; • have a positive attitude; • do things wholeheartedly and • look on the bright side.

Dreaming Celebration Day The day began with a welcome to country by Cody. The smoking ceremony was conducted by Chris Tobin. Groups rotated through a range of activities that included Aboriginal Art, cultural talks, fire pit cooking, Dreamtime Storytelling and crafts. Mr Foye was a key leader in the successful organisation of the day.

Stewart House Clothing Drive Kindergarten to Year 6 We are asking parents to assist the Smith Family who collect clothes on behalf of Stewart House in their donations of clothing. Your donation helps fund the program that support the 1,800 public school children who experience a healthy and much needed break at Stewart House each year. Please return your bag to the school office by Wednesday 11th September. Positive Behaviour for Learning Each week students are encouraged to follow our three golden PBL school rules: be safe, be respectful, be a learner. Students receive tokens in class and the playground for following the rules and being safe. These tokens are tallied and when a student has 20 tokens they receive a wrist band. Below: Wrist band recipients

PBL Stars – Baxter, June and Josh In The Garden It has been a great couple of weeks for harvesting lettuce, rocket, beetroot, silverbeet, snow peas and tomatoes. The rocket had a beautiful peppery bite which went well with parmesan cheese and pear, topped with a honey balsamic dressing. The beetroots were on the small side but leaves were perfect for flash frying in a yummy stir-fry. The snow peas were best eaten freshly picked and I heard that not even one made it home! You may notice over the next few weeks a few of the garden beds looking bare as we are

preparing for spring planting. We are revitalising the beds with compost, soil and mulch. The Garden Club has started planting seeds into small pots in the green house. This will give the plants a better chance to grow as seedling in the garden beds. Still growing in the garden are broad beans, broccoli, purple pak choi, strawberries, blueberries and herbs. The broad beans planted by 3/4F are flowering furiously and we soon will have beans coming out of our ears! So keep an eye out for the next harvest! If there is something in particular you would like to see grown in the garden we welcome all suggestions. Just see Mrs Smith in the office or you can catch me in the garden most mornings and afternoons. Happy Gardening Theresa, aka Maddie’s Mum

Primary Athletics Carnival We managed it! Despite the inclement weather we were able to hold all events over the course of the week. Thank you to all the students who participated and congratulations to the winners and those going to District in Blacktown next Friday, September 6th. Thank you too to Matt who helped in the freezing weather to time the children in their races. Couldn’t have done it without you!
