Nonmetals
• Gases or brittle solids• Not malleable or ductile• Don’t conduct• Not shiny• Often found in your body
Metalloids
• Metalloids are along the “stair case line”• Separate metal and nonmetal sections• Have properties of both!
Groups
• Sometimes called families• Have similar properties• Are columns on the periodic table• Some have special names
Periods
• Are rows on the periodic table• have the same number of electron energy
levels
