Many years have passed since 1980 the foundation of Vetrotech as part of the Swiss company Giesbrecht Glas AG and its later acquisition by Saint-Gobain in 1995. Acquisition allowed us to become part of the impressive Saint- Gobain history of more than 350 years, and subsequently Vetrotech was able to step up its develop-ment to become recognized experts in the field of fire resistant and high security glass for application both on land and open seas. atrium area with Vetrotech’s 28 mm thin

Contraflam Structure 30 functioning as its

core design element throughout.

The building is home of the largest butt-jointed,

fire resistant glazing installation (1’300 m²) –

including 90° corner-to-corner joints – in

Europe. In addition it showcases the market’s

very first installed Contraflam Mega 30 on the

ground floor spanning in height of 4’400 mm.

• Our internal fire testing laboratory has been designed to clean the smoke emitted by the furnace through active carbon filters before their release to the atmosphere (depollution, dehydration).

• All trucks used by Vetrotech Saint-Gobain are required to follow the Euro 5 or 6 standard: their loading is optimized and drivers are trained to eco-driving.

FIRE RESISTANT GLASS

E-classified fire resistant glass provides a physical barrier against flames, smoke and hot, toxic gases up to 180 minutes*.The most important property is maintaining its integrity by resisting breakage in case of fire and high temperatures keeping other areas safe.

Fire resistant glass with the EW classification up to 120 minutes provides similar protection to integrity glass, plus the added benefit of limiting the level of radiant energy which passes through the glass. This is important because radiant heat can result in fire spread to the opposite side by spontaneous combustion or impede the safe escape of building occupants.

Fire resistant glass with the EI classification offers the highest level of protection – integrity plus heat insulation during the specified time frame of up to 120 minutes, thereby compartmentalizing fire preventing spread to separate areas. The glass contains an intumescent interlayer that expands and becomes opaque in the event of a fire.

There are many reasons why buildings might be targeted to forced entry or vandalism. These glass solutions delay intrusion long enough for the police or emergency services to respond. In forensic psychiatric clinics or prisons, it’s often required to prevent potential escape or uncontrollable physical attacks. Our glass & glass-clad polycarbonate laminated solutions can prevent forced entry, theft and personal harm.

The terminal velocity at which a bullet hits the glass can be up to 950 metres per second at a distance of just a few metres. In general, glass will naturally break into pieces due to the pressure of the strong penetration. Our high-strength laminated bullet resistant glass solutions are individually tested to meet the required resistance of the corresponding ammunition for at least three consecutive shots in near proximity.

The rising threats of terrorist attacks or accidental explosions are growing in our modern times. Certain building types are exposed to a greater risk of violence, either because of their function or their location. Flying glass fragments after an explosion can immediately become deadly projectiles. In that case blast resistant glazing with non-splintering properties protects the building occupants lives at all time.
