T o develop the contours of a vocational
educational qualificationframe work, the All IndiaCouncil for Technical Edu-cation (AICTE) is organiz-ing a series of sector spe-cific round table confer-ences to discuss thepresent scenario of soft andtechnical skills of the exist-ing workforce in the agegroup of twenty to twentyfive and contemporary re-quirement of industry.
In this series, a roundtable on Media & Entertain-ment Industry was heldunder the Chairmanship ofHuman Resource Develop-
ment (HRD) and Communi-cation and InformationTechnology Minister KapilSibal.
The workshop was at-tended by 126 representa-tives of the Media & Enter-tainment Industry. After ex-tensive discussions, it wasdecided to constitute acommittee to prepare thedraft curriculum for voca-tional education for thissector.
The committee includesAICTE Chairman S.S.Mantha, Exchange for Me-dia CEO Anurag Batra andmembers from different sec-tors of the media. Five sub-
committees have also beenconstituted to prepare thedraft curriculum for differ-ent sectors such as TV, ad-vertising, theatre, print,support sector for the me-dia.
"Two big concerns ofemployers today are find-ing good workers and train-ing them. India has a largepopulation base of 1.14 bil-lion with demographic shiftin favor of working agegroup (15-59 years). Whilethe overall population isprojected to grow at 1.4%over the next five years the

Mix together the water,tomato, pepper, salt sugar(jaggery) and tamarindjuice.
Bring it to a boil on alow flame.
Season with mustard,hing, curry leaves andcumin in ghee.
Garnish with choppedcoriander. Eat when hotwith plain rice.
