Proposal

We propose to supply the necessary labor and material to complete the following:

1. Protect landscaping prior to commencement of work.

2. Remove 1 layer of roofing down to plywood deck. If necessary, install new plywood to

replace any sheets that are not suitable for reroofing in the opinion of the job foreman at an

additional cost above contract price of $XX per sheet of ½” (nominal size) plywood. Only

those sheets that are absolutely necessarily in need of replacement will be changed.

3. Install new ice and water shield underlayment in 6’ width at all eaves or 2’ past the exterior

wall, whichever is greater. New ice shield will be adhered directly to plywood roof deck

and wrapped over onto fascia. Gutters will be removed and reinstalled or loosened and

reset to allow for extension of ice and water shield membrane onto fascia. Ice and water

shield membrane will be laid in all valleys in a three foot width.

4. Install new Shinglemate high performance anti-wrinkle underlayment over the balance of

the roof. Shinglemate felt is non-organic and will not absorb moisture.

5. Install a new 3” x 3” white right angle at all eaves where gutters exist and a new F5.5 white

drip edge at rakes. In some locations at eaves where no gutters exist we may substitute

drip edge based on field conditions.

6. Install new GAF 50-Year Timberline HD architectural shingles over entire house. New

Timberline High Definition shingles have a 110 mile per hour limited wind warranty and

a UL Class A fire rating. New shingles to be installed as per manufacturer’s specifications

with respect to fastener placement and pattern layout. Color choice by customer. Color to

be (_____________________).

7. Install new aluminum flanged vent pipe flashings at all vent pipes.

8. Install new Cobra snow country ridge vent at all ridges that can be properly ventilated.

Proper ventilation requires that your home presently has existing vents in the soffits. In

conjunction with this work we will close off or cover any conflicting gable vents with

interior plastic or plywood or exterior metal flashing to eliminate any wind-blown rain or

snow entering the building through the gable vent due to the added draw of new ridge vents.

The gable vents will not be permanently removed, just covered in the least obtrusive

manner.

9. Install new Timbertex Hip and Ridge shingles to match the color of the newly installed

roofing.

10. Reflash any existing skylights. The connection of the skylight to the roof is covered under

our warranty. Skylights have an expected life of approximately 20 years. We recommend

changing any skylights that are pre-existing and older than 10 years old. The skylight

fixture itself (glass and frame connections) on previously existing skylights is not covered.

11. Reuse step and apron flashing at walls. Replace any damaged flashing as is necessary with

new aluminum flashing.

12. Reflash furnace flue by lifting flange, inserting shingles, embedding flange in flashing

grade roof cement and extending flange with a 12” x 12” piece of ice and watershield.

13. Remove channel siding in a 9” width parallel to roof by cutting and removing lower ends

of vertical boards near roof. Extend ice shield fully around chimney adhered directly to

plywood sheathing. Install a new copper chimney flashing including new apron, step, and

back pan flashing with soldered corner. Install copper Z molding and new pine trim primed

brown. No finish painting is included in our price. We can make wood available for

priming and painting by others prior to job start.

14. Remove all job related debris. We will utilize 20-yard containers which will be positioned

over wood to protect driveway surface in coordination with homeowner to minimize

impact to vehicle use.

15. Silver Roofing will provide the manufacturers 50-year limited warranty on material and an

additional 5 year warranty on workmanship. The SRI 5 year warranty covers roof repairs

at no cost to the homeowner for any roof leaks that are a result of errors in workmanship

including the cost of the purchase of new material if our workmanship correction requires

that any material be purchased. The manufacturer’s warranties on the shingle product will

be supplied to the homeowner. See warranty for exclusions and limitation.

Replace Skylights Option

1. Replace three existing skylights at the following locations;

• Front roof slope lower right.

• Rear upper roof left

• Rear upper roof right

New Skylight is to be Velux a non-operating fixed flat glass units of similar size as

existing units. If venting (opening) skylights are desired please note on contract which

locations by writing venting next to the location. The skylight allowance for each unit is

$XXX which includes the cost of the unit, plus the cost of the factory flashing plus tax,

plus a XX% markup on material. There will be a credit or charge to the contract once the

skylight model is chosen based on the $XXX allowance. We are proposing a Velux MO2

unit.

Gutter Cover Option

1. Remove existing gutter covers and discard. (We can reset these for $XXX but it is not

recommended.

2. Install new gutter toppers which have a lifetime warranty against ever needing cleaning.

If toppers require cleaning we will return, remove toppers, clean gutters and replace

toppers at no charge.

Channel Siding Option

1. Deliver Channel Cedar siding to site for painting/staining by others.

2. Remove 1 x 10 existing channel cedar siding on two walls having a southern exposure.

3. Install new Tyvek underlayment on walls.

4. Install new 1 x 8 cedar channel siding after it is pre-primed and pre-painted/stained by

others. No quote on 1 x 10 siding was available at time of proposal. We will check

availability if you wish to proceed and requote accordingly. If 1 x 10 is still made I

expect a nominal upcharge of $XXX to $XXX. No painting or staining of channel siding

is included in this contract.
