        April 24, 2016 ADULT FORUM  We offer presentations from many speakers on diverse and interesting topics. Lower Level  Cal Neptune and Jim Fleet facilitate this class. Bryans Room  April 24 – John Blinn – “My Spiritual Journey with the Native Flute”       May 1 – Barb Philipp – Loaves and Fishes (Habitat for Humanity)  CORNERSTONE II  This class is geared to families with young children, but is open to all. Family Cornerstone II Room  topics are generally discussed with an emphasis on sharing and fellowship. In the   month of April, we will feature One Thousand Gifts by Anne Voskamp. Led by Amy   and Jeremy Long.   April 24 – Trust: The Bridge to Joy   May 1 – Empty to Fill  JOURNEYS IN  “Head & Heart Discussions” making Christianity relevant in today’s culture  FAITH  combined with inspirational stories from Belief, a groundbreaking seven‐part  East Parlor  documentary series exploring humankind’s ongoing search to connect with   something greater than themselves. Facilitated by Les Law, Tony Winger, and   Richard Nelson.   April 24 – View, “The Practice”   May 1 – Discuss, “The Practice”  SPECIAL NEEDS  This is a combined Sunday school class and worship time. This sacred gathering Journeys in Faith  and experiential learning is especially open to those with cognitive disabilities. Room  We would appreciate volunteer help!  

YOUTH CLASSES  Our Middle School class includes 6th‐8th grade youth. The High School  B03 &  class includes youth in 9th‐12th grades with Barb Eulenstein in the Youth Youth Lounge  Lounge. The Middle School meets in the B03 classroom with Bethany Hader.    CHILDREN’S CLASSES  All children from preschool through 5th grade meet in the Music/Movement Top Level  room at 9:30am. They are dismissed to their respective areas following Christian Ed Wing   a short time of music together.   April 17 – May 8: “David: Big Giant, Big Challenge, Big Faith.” 

CHILDCARE  Quality care for newborns to three years or potty trained provided by Nursery  Barbara P‐Walker & Brittany Yepsen, 8:15am‐12:15pm.   The nursery is located on the main level of the Christian Ed Wing.

UPark offers a Bible Study based on We Make the Road by Walking, the 2014 Brian McLaren book. You may participate on a drop‐in basis. We have three study options: 

Sunday Mornings, at 9:30am with Liza Stoltz Hanson in Osborne Parlor.   Sunday Evenings, at 6:30pm at our Evanston Center with Rev. Dale Beck.      Tuesday Afternoons, at 2 pm in our Osborne Parlor with Rev. Debby Lawrence. 

Men’s Fellowship meets on Tuesdays, 10‐11:30am in Osborne Parlor. Fellowship and study time. Deacon Debby’s Friday study, 12‐1pm in Osborne Parlor. Bring a lunch. Fellowship and study time.   UPark UMC’s All‐Church Camp will be May 27‐29 at Camp Buckhorn. Registration forms are on the bulletin board in the main church foyer or on the table outside of Wasser Chapel. A registration table will be available on Sundays: May 1, 8, & 15. Pricing: Kids 0‐3 years, Free; Kids 4‐12, $55; Adults 13+, $105. Scholarships available. Partial weekend pricing available. Contact Amy Long: amywlong@gmail.com. Activities: Games, Campfire, Kickball, Yoga, Crafts, Skits & More!   BRING THOSE ALUMINUM CANS! Our latest metal redemption resulted in 140 pounds worth $33.71; bringing the 2016 total thus far to $94.73. This includes donations of aluminum cans and other miscellaneous metals. We send these funds to the Children’s Hospital Chaplaincy Department to supply Bibles for patients and their families including Spanish Bibles and other reading materials for their interfaith book cart. NOTE:  Please separate different types of metals (they’re weighed and valued individually). Cans of any type other than aluminum are not accepted.   It's time for spring cleaning and STEPS Young Adult Group wants your old books!  They will enrich the lives of adults living on the streets.  On Friday, May 20th, they will be distributed by STEPS with help from DU's Foundation Campus Ministry at Civic Center Park.  Please drop off your books by Sunday, May 15th.  The donation box is located in the narthex.  What kinds of books should you donate?  Fiction or non‐fiction books written for adults.  If you have any questions, email Brittany Collins brittany.collins621@gmail.com.   Bowling concludes on May 15th.  Also, there is no bowling on Mother’s Day (May 8th). Stay tuned for summer softball updates. Information will also be in the May Messenger. Questions can be directed to Larry Roggensack, 4roggies@comcast.net or Rob Eulenstein, rob.eulenstein@hpe.com.

BREAKFAST BURRITOS!!! On May 8, the youth will be selling breakfast burritos to raise money for 

the two mission trips this summer. (Middle School youth head to Alamosa, Colorado and High School youth go to San Diego, California). We will prepare the burritos on Saturday, May 7, so they will be fresh and ready be eaten for Mother’s Day Brunch or you can freeze them when you get them home. 

You will not believe the quality of these burritos. But, it’s really not as much about the burrito as it is about the 

great work the youth will be able to do as a result of your support. Be ready to buy a bunch!! Preorders appreciated using the form below.
