Dear Parents, Before the Mardi Gras holiday, I had the privilege of at- tending the National Title I Conference to participate in a cer- emony where Belle Chasse Primary was recognized as a Dis- tinguished School. Sixty-three U.S. schools were named 2017 National Title I Distinguished Schools either for exceptional stu- dent performance overall, for significantly closing the achieve- ment gap between student groups, or for excellence in serv- ing special populations of students. A project of the National Title I Association, the National Title I Distinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes quali- fying Title I schools for the outstanding academic achieve- ments of their students. Belle Chasse Primary has been recog- nized for closing the achievement gap between students. This prestigious honor is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the teachers, staff, students and families of Belle Chasse Primary. It is truly a team effort and a result of years of effort. Thank you all for your continued support. Sincerely, Mrs. Ritz Pelican Press Volume 24 Issue 7 Page 1 of 4 Pelican Press 539 F. Dear Parents,

Before the Mardi Gras holiday, I had the privilege of at-

tending the National Title I Conference to participate in a cer-

emony where Belle Chasse Primary was recognized as a Dis-

tinguished School. Sixty-three U.S. schools were named 2017

National Title I Distinguished Schools either for exceptional stu-

dent performance overall, for significantly closing the achieve-

ment gap between student groups, or for excellence in serv-

ing special populations of students.

A project of the National Title I Association, the National

Title I Distinguished Schools Program publicly recognizes quali-

fying Title I schools for the outstanding academic achieve-

ments of their students. Belle Chasse Primary has been recog-

nized for closing the achievement gap between students.

This prestigious honor is a reflection of the hard work

and dedication of the

teachers, staff, students

and families of Belle Chasse

Primary. It is truly a team

effort and a result of years

of effort. Thank you all for

your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ritz

Chinese New Year at BCP

Pre-K News

Bus Riders of the Month Kindergarten Studies –ug

Ms. Taliancich brought

her pug to the Kinder-

garten hall for a visit

recently to help our stu-

dents learn the –ug

word ending. Be sure to

ask your Kindergartner

how many –ug words

they know.

Third graders in Mrs. Rodrguez’s class celebrated

Chinese New Year on February 16th. This is the

year of the Dog. People born in this year are said

to be very loyal. The “teaser” in front of the drag-

on guides him, puts him to sleep, all the while

leading him with his fan. The students all took

turns being part of the dragon or being musi-

cians for the parade. The students played drums,

bells, sticks and a cymbal to make the dragon

move. Mrs. Rodriguez’s homeroom paraded for

the kindergarten students, while her afternoon

class paraded for first and third grade.

PK students have been busy! They cele-

brated Mardi Gras with a parade, shared

doughnuts with their dads and dressed as

100 year olds on the 100th day of school.

The Great Kindness Challenge

STEM Night– Science, Technology and Math

The Great Kindness Challenge is a week dedicated to performing millions of acts of kindness on

campuses nationwide! Belle Chasse Primary participated to help create a more safe and caring

school environment by doing random acts of kindness for others around the school and communi-

ating a positive school envi- r o n m e n t s . I n 2 0 1 7 ,

10,493,866 students partici- pated and performed over

half a billion acts of kind- ness nationwide.

Almost 500 students, parents and teachers participated in this year’s STEM Night! What a great night

of learning. Thank you to our many volunteers including teachers, staff, BCP’s Robotics Club, Energy

Wise, Jean Lafit-

te National

Park, Woodland

Trails, The Honey

Bee Lady, LSU

Ag Center and

our military part-

ners.

1100 students came together for

#KINDNESS.

Students thanked our crossing

guard, Officer Freeny, for

keeping us safe.

Students thanked our cafeteria

staff for feeding us nutritious

lunches.
