Lions Code of Ethics To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service. To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part. To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself. Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself. To Hold friendship as an end and not a

means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given. Always bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means. To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy. To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.

WHAT’S HAPPENING

Do you know the 4 Pillars of Service? Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) supports and develops international humanitarian programs that serve people in need. With the dedication and work of Lions, LCIF is able to improve millions of lives through our high-impact initiatives. Our international humanitarian programs are focused in four main areas: Preserving Sight Since 1990, SightFirst has been making quality eye care accessible to those who most need it. SightFirst has made it possible for more than 30 million people to have improved or restored vision. Supporting Youth Over the past 25 years, more than 12 million

young people in 80 countries have benefited through Lions Quest, our youth development program for kindergarten through 12th grade. Providing Disaster Relief In times of disaster, Lions meet immediate needs such as food, water and shelter with funds from LCIF. For larger-scale disasters, the Foundation remains committed to helping communities rebuild into the future. Meeting Humanitarian Needs LCIF is active in a variety of international humanitarian efforts, such as supporting the construction of homes for the disabled, providing vision screenings to Special Olympics athletes and combating measles.

It is our turn to stand up "TO SERVE".

WHAT’S HAPPENING

YOUR LIONS AT WORK Sports Extravaganza

Above you can see Lion Danny trying to sell something or to convince Lion Huby Jones to his way of thinking while Lion George is working hard at the scoreboard maintaining control of the evening Goalball Team event. Lion Tom is manning the Leader Dog booth and advising potential Leader Dog customers the advantages and requirements to participate in their programs. Lion Bobby, on the other hand, is shown at our latest Applebee's event. He was the one behind the camera taking pictures at the event so this was the only photo we have of him. To see all of his handy work at the Sports Extravaganza go to our District 2-X1 website( http://www.lions2-x1.org/ )and click on photo galleries. Thanks Lion Bobby for the great pictures and thanks to Lions Danny Fletcher, George Harrington and Tom McCallister for their service.

(more of your Lions at work)

We are not sure whether this qualifies for work or not, but it is worthy of mention. Lions PDG Ken Gleason, Arthur Young and Marvin Surles teamed with John Burkhalter for a second place finish at the LS&TF Howard Snyder Golf Tournament. This is not the first time they have teamed up to win. One wonders when Mr. Burkhalter will be joining our ranks as a Lion? He is sure keeping pretty good company.

Sachse Lions Club Help

Lions Becky Royer and Maria Lucero are shown helping Leader Dogs for the Blind at their Sausage and Turkey Leg Cooking event in the Sachse Fall Festival. They, with Lion Tom McCallister, passed out information and collected donations. Sometimes it is fun "TO SERVE" and eat well too.

LCI Netcasts and Webinars Netcasts and webinars are virtual training vehicles where participants use the Internet to connect with other group members and with the instructors. These courses are found on the LCI web site for your consideration. It is good to be prepared "TO SERVE".

You may sign up to work between the hours of 1:00pm & 8:30pm. The event is hosted at

Fair Park in Dallas, TX on Thursday, November 14, 2013 in the Centennial Building at Fair Park 1300 Robert B Cullum Blvd, Dallas, TX. To sign up contact Secretary Lion Cyndie for sign up form or you can contact Caron Boyd for more information at [email protected] or 214-361-5667.
