EXT. MIDDLE OF THE STREET - DAY

FAR SHOT WITH BOTH OF THE CHARACTERS IN THE RIGHT OF THE

    FRAME

Two men looking at each other in the middle of the street.

It's summer. One is in the opposite side of the other.

Only a background sound can be heard. Both of them are

tall. One of them is named LANE MOODY and the other is

always called by the name of CHIEF. They look almost the

same. Lane, the one a little bit taller, approaches Chief.

When the distance between the two people gets shorter, an

effect caused by Lane, Lane ceases to start the

conversation he wanted to begin. After that he gets back

to the spot where he was sited.

    being watched by the viewers.

    CHIEF

    Let's look for him.

    LANE MOODY

    You lost him.

    CHIEF

    Maybe he lost himself.

    LANE MOODY

Look, Mr Winky never ceases to

have the orientation where he is

or where he's been. I'm aware of

that, you're aware of that and

so is everybody else, all in

all, that's not subject to doubt

about nor it is a one to talkof.

    CHIEF

    You know what happened?

    LANE MOODY

    Yeah... I know what happened.

CHIEFGood, 'cause we're gonna go look

    for him, right?

    LANE MOODY

    Wrong.

    CHIEF

    I'm sorry.

    LANE MOODYDY

    I said wrong.

    CHIEF

    Why is it so?

    LANE MOODY

'Cause we ain't gonna go after

    him.

    CHIEF

    No?

    LANE MOODY

    No.(Nodding his head.)

Lane and the Cheif look at each other.

    CHIEF

    Let's go.

    LANE MOODY

    Where? You still wanna finish

    the job?

    CHIEF

Yeah.Lane and Chief look at each others for a few more quite

seconds. After that, they turn their backs at the camera

and start walking the road. So on, the title credits begin

to roll. The text goes from the right side of the screen

    CHARACTERS IN THE FRAME

Chief holds a gun in his hand while pointing to Lane. In

his other hand he has a suitcase.

So, this it, you gonna shot me.

    CHIEF

    You know I need it.

    LANE MOODY

So all this was planed. Little

by little, and in the very end,

    this. This referring to shooting

    me.

    CHEF

    Yeah.

    LANE MOODY

You know something; if I were

you, yeah, I think I'll take the

prize, leave me in this kind of

    situation, but one thin's sure,

    if I were you, I wouldn't pull

    the trigger on that gun.

CHIEFWhy? Is it 'cause... you'll be

too violent? Well let me tell

you a thing here: I'd like to

    bealive that in my following

actions there won't be any trace

of sadism. But this is only what

I would like, the truth is that,

    right now, at this very

moment,... this is me at my most

    masochistic...

Lane and Chief walk on the street at a rapid pace. They

    want to arrive somewhere.

    LANE MOODY

So you got any idea of who this

    guy is?

    CHIEF

Nah man, I heard that he's

pretty good in doing jobs like

    the one we're dealing with.

    LANE MOODY

Hope so, 'cause I ain't gonna

bust myself again like the last

time we dealt with this kind of

    people.

    CHIEF

Think we're ever gonna see Winky

    again?

    LANE MOODY

I'm not looking forward for it

    to happen.

    CHIEF

    Whatcha wanna do after?

    LANE MOODYAfter what?

    CHIEF

    After we finish with this

    guys...

    LANE MOODY

Don't know. Maybe go home. What

    else? You?

    CHIEF

Didn't really thought aboutthat. I guess I'll see where

    things'll take me to.

    LANE MOODY

    Yeah, I guess so.

The two people arrive in front of the house.

    LANE MOODY

    You ready?

    CHIEF

    Oh,oh,oh what are you doing?

    LANE MOODY

What do you mean what am I

doing, you're aware of what I'm

    doing.

    CHIEF

    Well, remember what Mr Winky

    said?

    LANE MOODY

Yeah, of course I remember; wego in, we question this guy, if

he's cool, we won't waste any

more money on bullets and if

he's not, we'll pop a cap in his

    head, take the package and

    leave. That's what he said.

    CHIEF

No man, that ain't exactly what

the before to be kidnaped man

said; he told us to be here at11:09.

And you know what time it is?

    LANE MOODY

    It ain't 11:09.

    CHIEF

    Well, you're right, it ain't

    11:09; it's 10:58.

    LANE MOODY

    So, whatcha you wanna do?

    CHIEF

    I don't know. Wait.

    LANE MOODY

    I ain't waiting.

Lane leaves into the direction of a small restaurant.

    CHIEF

    Where you going?

    LANE MOODY

I'm getting a drink. Ya' wanna

  • 8/7/2019 Peculiar Imperfection

    7/27

    come?

    LANE MOODY (CONT'D)

    CHIEF

    O.K I'm coming.

    CUT TO:

EXT. OUTSIDE PLACE FOR A RESTAURANT - MOMENTS LATER

Chief and Lane sit down with their drinks in their hands.

Chief has a Cola and Lane has Sprite.

    LANE MOODY

You know, that thing ain't good

    for you.

    CHIEF

    And why's that?

    LANE MOODYWell that's thing's got

    caffeine.

    CHIEF

    So what?

    LANE MOODY

    Caffeine's a drug. Drugs don't

do good. Caffeine's that type of

    drug that they call a

    psychoactive stimulant. Ya'

    wanna know what a psychoactive

    stimulant is?

    CHIEF

    Yeah, tell it.

    LANE MOODY

    Psychoactive stimulants are a

    kind of drugs which induce

    temporary improvements in either

    mental or physical function, or

both. That means that in a fewminutes you'll feel good, but

    after that you'll feel worse

that right now. So I advise you

    to take a sprite instead.

    CHIEF

    Coffee's got caffeine as well.

    LANE MOODY

I never said I drink coffee or

ever will. Coffee's bad for your

    heart. You wanna know why?

  • 8/7/2019 Peculiar Imperfection

    8/27

    CHIEF

    Why?

    LANE MOODY

    'Cause it got caffeine; that's

why. What have we been talking

    about?

    CHIEF

    My beverage is delicious.

    LANE MOODY

That's my point. They put drugs

    in it.

    CHIEF

If drugs didn't exist you'll be

    out of this business.

    LANE MOODY

    No, if drugs didn't exist

    something else would and that

    would be my money maker.

    CHIEF

Say what you want, but I'm

    drinking this.

Chief takes a sip from his drink.

Come on it's getting late. Wegotta be there in 3 minutes.

    CHIEF

Who does the "Hello, How are

    you, Fine thank you" thing?

    LANE MOODY

    I will.

    CHIEF

Take it easy on this guy, I

    ain't expecting that he's got

    something. It's 11:09, let's

    go.

    LANE MOODY

    You know me.

  • 8/7/2019 Peculiar Imperfection

    9/27

Lane knocks on the door. An "almost wake up kind of guy"

    answares the door.

    LANE MOODY (CONT'D)

    You Verny Grahms?

    VERNY GRAHMSYeah, why?

    LANE MOODY

I'm Lane Moody, may we come in?

    VERNY GRAHMS

    Yeah.

Chief and Lane go in the house.

INT. IN THE HOUSE - SECONDS LATER

THE CAMERA STAYS AT THE GROUND LEVEL

The three men go sit down at a desk. Verny is sitting in

the main chair and the others in the guest chairs.

    VERNY GRAHMS

    Yeah, what?

    LANE MOODY

You don't know what? Well, I'll

tell you what; the thing is that

you got something we want, and

that something that me and myfriend want, belongs to you; but

    I ain't having any illusions

that you don't know that already

and I didn't come down here to

    tell you something you already

knew; I came here to tell you

    something you didn't. And the

thing that you didn't, is that

if you don't give me a good

excuse why you don't have what

we want, it'll be either "To beor not to be". Got that?

Verny looks as he has heard that before but can'
