PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Scholarship Committee of the Pearl and Ivy Educational

Foundation(PIEF) has traditionally awarded three separate

sets of scholarships annually:

(1) the PIEF high school scholarships, awarded each spring and open to graduating seniors

enrolled in District of Columbia public high schools and public charter high schools;

(2) (2) PIEF “returning” or “renewal” scholarships, awarded to former PIEF high school

scholarship recipients currently enrolled and in good standing at colleges / universities as

rising sophomores – rising seniors; and

(3) (3) Xi Omega undergraduate scholarships, awarded to members of the three undergraduate

chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Alpha Chapter at Howard University, Beta

Lambda Chapter at the University of the District of Columbia and Lambda Zeta Chapter at

American University) supervised by the Xi Omega Chapter.

Each set of scholarships is application-based, with students required to submit a written

application, supporting documentation, and for the first two categories of scholarships an essay

responding to a designated question.
