Welcome to Issue 35 of Peak e-News.
In this months issue our main focus is based firmly on the new
Peak Mechanical Leak Detection Tool which isa single trip,
repeatable setting device added to the SIM System range of
products. The Peak MechanicalLeak Detection Tool is designed to
provide a pressure integrity base used in the process of
identifying a tubingleak. We also announce our agreement with
Muscat Petroleum in the Sultanate of Oman and importantchanges to

PEAK MECHANICAL LEAK DETECTION TOOLThe SIM System is a series of
mechanically interchangeable components designed to provide a range
ofapplications for the purpose of well integrity and production
management. Applications include:
Plug System Gauge Hanger Straddle System Integral Gas Lift
Downhole Choke
At Peak we have continued to expand and refine the SIM System by
extending the operational applications ofthe SIM System to now
include the Peak Mechanical Leak Detection Tool. The Peak
Mechanical LeakDetection Tool is a logical extension to the SIM
System which provides our customers with an extremely
simple and cost effective solution to ascertain a leak path
between the tubing and annulus.The Peak Mechanical Leak Detection
Tool is deployed in the well to the desired depth, predominantly at
adepth below a suspected leak path, on a conventional slickline
toolstring consisting of simple Stem & SpangJars. Reciprocation
at depth allows the radial indexing mechanism to activate,
anchoring the SIM SystemRunning Tool Slips to the tubing wall. To
effect the seal, light jarring down is required to expand the
elementof the Peak Mechanical Leak Detection Tool. Tubing pressure
is then applied to test tubing integrity. The cyclecan then be
repeated and fine tuned until the exact location of a leak is
detected.
The Peak Mechanical Leak Detection Tool can be run downhole and
reset a number of times without the needto pull back to surface.
Multiple setting capability reduces NPT by allowing the leak to be
pin-pointed quickly,minimising Wireline runs. The Peak Mechanical
Leak Detection Tool will hold pressures of 1500 psi @ 350Ffrom
above. The integral self-equalising device allows the pressure to
equalise across the elastomer cupbefore moving the elastomer into
the fully retracted position. Currently available for 2 7/8 and 3
1/2 tubing,various sizes available on request to suit customer
requirements.
For existing users of the Peak SIM System, the Peak Mechanical
Leak Detection Tool can be supplied as anAdapter System to the
patented SIM Running Tool or alternatively can be purchased as a
complete systempackaged in conjunction with the SIM Running Tool.
