The Office does make mistakes!

The election is just days away and I have to say, I am relieved. While touting unity and working together, the candidates and their parties have engaged in rhetoric which is divisive. Everything is about how bad the other candidate or party is. The photos used show us the opposing candidate’s face in the worst possible photo they could find. There is little

civility. We try to teach our children to speak nicely to others and not bully people but we allow our elected leaders to do just that. When will it stop?

We tolerate it because we have tribal loyalties to our parties. We support whatever our own personal side does. We are still acting like the cliques in high school who don’t hold our friends accountable when they pick on those they deem lesser than themselves.

It is time for Christians everywhere to stand up and say enough! Love others as we love ourselves means tearing down tribal walls that divide us and building bridges to unite us. Write your congress people. Tell them to stop the divisive rhetoric. Tell them to behave and to do what’s right. Pray for our country, pray for the other party, stand up for the marginalized. Love one another, as I have loved you.

Wild Blessings,

~Pastor Mickey VACATION Pastor Mickey will be on vacation the week of November 25th – December 1st.

DISCIPLESHIP AND MINISTRY

“As a member of this congregation, I will faithfully participate in the ministries of the Church by my prayers, my presence, my gifts, my service, and my witness.”

Membership Vows - UMC DAILY DEVOTIONAL TIME – UPPER ROOM The phrases “doing devotions” or “having devotions” may sound foreign or weird. These phrases are simply ways people describe spending time with God by reading the Bible (and other Christian literature) and praying. Why bother to read the Bible and pray? Why is having a regular time with God important? We spend time with God in order to deepen and strengthen our relationship with the One who created us and yearns to be with us.

But because we are all different and because each of us has a unique relationship with God, no one devotional pattern will work for everyone. And no one way works for anyone all the time. Experiment until you find the time of day, content, and length of time spent that helps you feel connected to God.

Begin your devotional time by quieting yourself. Take a few deep breaths and become still. Read a short passage in the Bible and some additional reading. The Upper Room can guide you in choosing scripture passages, and its witness from other believers can help you connect the words of the Bible with concerns of everyday life. Pick yours up on the counter in the Narthex.

THANK YOU Dear Peace UMC, Thank you! It seems like I’m saying that to you, a lot but it is really meant. Your continued support helps us to do our ministry. It has been a busy summer, for all of us, and we are thankful for fall. The schedule slows down, some, but the ministry continues. Thank you for your continued support!!! Peace, Pastor Barb McKewin (Mobile Ministry – Kabetogama United Methodist & Crane Lake Chapel)

SERENITY CIRLCLE COOKIE SALE! Mark your calendars!! Serenity Circle is planning the Christmas Cookie Sale for Saturday, December 15th. We will need your home-made cookies and candy to help make it a success. Thank You.

CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY – November 25th Christ the King Sunday is celebrated on the last Sunday of Ordinary time (last Sunday after Pentecost), before the beginning of Advent that starts the new Church Year. As the last Sunday of the Christian Church Year, Christ the King Sunday is the climax and conclusion of the Church’s liturgical journey through the life of Christ and the Gospel message. Its purpose is to celebrate the coming reign of Christ as King of the Earth and his completion of the renewed creation that marks the fullness of the Kingdom of God. That hope is born from the entire life of Christ and his teachings that have been celebrated in the seasons of the Church Year during the past twelve months. In celebrating the Reign of Christ the King, this Sunday also provides an appropriate bridge to the new Church Year that begins the following Sunday on the first Sunday of Advent with an emphasis on hope and expectation, the longing for the coming of the Kingdom of God amid the darkness of a sinful world. 4-WEEK ADVENT BIBLE STUDY - The Journey by Adam Hamilton Journey with Adam Hamilton as he travels from Nazareth to Bethlehem in this fascinating look at the birth of Jesus Christ. Using historical information, archaeological data, and a personal look at some of the stories surrounding the birth, the most amazing moment in history will become more real and heart-felt as you walk along this road. Come journey with us as we prepare to receive this miracle among us. Wednesdays beginning November 28th at 6:00 pm during PORCH and Thursdays beginning December 6th at 10:00 am! Read the first two chapters prior to the first session.

Walk to Emmaus Men’s Weekend (January 17-20th)

Camp Koronis Walk to Emmaus Women’s Weekend (January 24-27th) Camp Koronis The walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day short course in Christianity. It is an opportunity to meet Jesus Christ in a new way as God’s grace and love is revealed to you through other believers.

The Walk to Emmaus experience begins with the prayerful discernment and invitation from a sponsor. After one accepts this invitation they complete an application. The Emmaus leaders prayerfully consider each applicant and in God’s time, the person is invited to attend a three-day experience of New Testament Christianity as a lifestyle. Following the three-day experience, participants are joined in small groups to support each other in their ongoing walk with Christ.

Through the formational process of accountable discipleship in small groups and participation in the Emmaus community, each participant’s individual gifts and servant-leadership skills are developed for use in the local church and its mission. Participants are encouraged to find ways to live out their individual call to discipleship in their home, church, and community.

The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip the local church members for Christian action in their homes, churches, communities and places of work. Emmaus lifts up a way for our grace-filled lives to be lived and shared with others.
