Three times Nobel Peace Prize nomineeDr. Scilla Elworthy and other eminent ex-

perts will teach the Fellows how to use

their imagination and creativity to build a

campaign highlighting the great work of

    local peace builders worldwide.

The Fellows will have the chance to engage

with practitioners from the elds of peace build-

    ing, international development and communi-

cations. During the following ten months they

will have the unique opportunity to develop and

implement a venture they are passionate about

with the support of an innovative online curricu-

    lum and an experienced mentor.

The D&F Academy Fellowship is a unique and

prestigious opportunity for young people aged

18 to 28 who are eager to make a change.

To apply for a D&F Fellowship for the Peace

Project, applications must be submitted by

    February 11, 2013 at www.dfacademy.org.

Up to 20 international Fellows will come to Hamburg for 10 weeks

in July 2013 to learn, experience and investigate how they can

use innovative campaigns to give peace builders in local initiatives

a voice. During the following ten-month period, they will implement

their own ventures at home, applying the newly earned skil ls and

inspiration and with the support of the D&F Academy.

    The Challenge

Every D&F Project is centered around a Chal-lenge, a hands-on task which the Fellows have

to accomplish during the ten weeks in the D&F

Academy in Hamburg. In the Peace Project the

Fellows will address the fact that all around the

world uncounted numbers of people work with

great passion as peace builders in local initia-

tives, but their stories are rarely told to a wider

    audience.

Scilla Elworthys Challenge to the Fellows is to

create a vehicle for peace builders to tell theirstories. The Fellows will use their creativity, im-

agination, skills and energy to create an online

campaign that aims to raise awareness for local

peace builders worldwide: their difculties, their

successes and the way they collectively provide

hope for millions. In the process they will research

different local initiatives from around the globe,

but also their home countries, analyze existing ini-

tiatives on the web, and compile the stories they

have found into a compelling online campaign

aiming to raise awareness and support.

    The Curriculum

The Peace Project, like all D&F Academy Pro-

jects, will consist of two phases: the ten week

Challenge Phase in Hamburg and the ten month

    Implementation Phase. During the Challenge

Phase Fellows participate in three courses.

    The ChallengeLab provides the knowledge

and skills necessary to successfully fulll the

Challenge. It covers not only project specicknowledge from Scilla Elworthy and other ex-

perienced adverts and practitioners, but also

skills in project management and team leader-

ship, taught in sessions run by D&F Academy

    staff.

The MediaLab is an interactive and hands-on

course in which Fellows learn to use different

media, especially video and blogs. The course

enables Fellows to reach out to a broad audi-

ence for their own ventures by creating ownwebsites and lling it with good quality content.

The DreamLab is an innovative start-up course

based on values and skills that are crucial for

the Fellows to plan and implement their ven-

tures and thus to positively impact society. The

course is ongoing through both Phases. A key

milestone for every Fellow is the presentation

of the DreamPlan at the end of the Challenge

Phase in Hamburg, which is then the basis

for its implementation during the ten month

Implementation Phase in the respective Fel-

    lows home country.

    The DreamPlan andImplementation Phase

Once back home, Fellows implement their

DreamPlans making use of the knowledge andexperiences they gained throughout the Chal-

lenge Phase. During this ten month Implementa-

tion Phase, Fellows take part in an online cur-

riculum on the D&F Cloud, and are coached,

mentored and advised from the D&F team as

they implement their own ventures! The cloud

builds the platform for ongoing mutual exchange

between the Fellows and the D&F community.
