3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS OF HOT CARS Six of racing's most competitive series will highlight the 42nd Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend:

VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES Defending race and series champion Scott Dixon is out to make it two straight, but he'll be up against a pack of great drivers like Will Power, Helio Castroneves, Graham Rahal, Sebastien Bourdais, Juan Pablo Montoya, Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the weekend's headline event, race No. 3 in the 16-race IndyCar schedule. They'll be wheeling chassis powered by either Chevrolet or Honda engines and capable of hitting speeds in excess of 230 mph.

40th TOYOTA PRO/CELEBRITY RACE It's the final race in the great series that has featured film, TV and sports stars dueling pro drivers in Toyota Motorsports-prepped Scion FR-S's. Many of the winners and drivers in past Pro/Celebrity races will be back for one more battle in the 10-lap clash for charity.

MOTEGI RACING SUPER DRIFT CHALLENGE Conrad Grunewald won the 2015 event, and once again 16 of Formula Drift's top drivers will be burning rubber and going wheel-to-wheel in turns 9-10-11 under the lights Friday and Saturday night.

IMSA WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP This multi-class, 100-minute dash for the checkered flag spotlights the wide variety of high-powered marques in the popular racing series, which includes leader light systems on each car so you can easily spot who's winning in each particular class.

PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE Forty high-speed GT and GTA entries will be racing for points in round three of the 12-race series. GT cars include Cadillac, Porsche, Audi, McLaren 650S, Bentley Continental, and Acura, while GTA drivers will be wheeling Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, BMW and Aston Martin, among others.

SPEED ENERGY STADIUM SUPER TRUCKS Banging fenders...soaring off ramps...it's all part of Robby Gordon's fan-favorite series featuring racing trucks in high-speed action on the city streets. It's a wild blend of Baja 1000 desert racing and motocross, with the series competing in eight U.S. cities, Australia and Canada during 2016.

FORMULA E CHARGING BACK TO LONG BEACHRACE #6 IN THE INTERNATIONAL ELECTRIC CAR SERIES

After a successful inaugural season, Formula E, the all-electric car racing series that competes at venues world-wide, returns to Long Beach on Saturday, April 2 — its only U.S. round this season — with an expected field of 18 drivers dueling on a 1.32-mile modified portion of the Grand Prix street circuit.

The Long Beach ePrix, a 50-minute race, features nine teams of two drivers each, including teams from Michael Andretti, Jay Penske's Dragon Racing, e.dams Renault, ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport and DS Virgin Racing. And there's only one scheduled pit stop: mid-race, each driver will pit, exit his car and jump into another fully-charged car for the remainder of the race.

Nelson Piquet Jr., son of the three-time F1 king, won last year's race on the streets of Long Beach and went on to capture the inaugural Formula E championship.

Other famed racing names scheduled to compete here include: Bruno Senna, nephew of F1 legend Ayrton Senna; Nicolas Prost, son of four-time F1 champion Alain Prost and Mike Conway, two-time winner of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

You can save $5 by purchasing "Early Bird" tickets before March 16. Early Bird prices are $25 for adults and $20 for kids 13-16 and adults 60+. And, for an extra $10, you can enjoy a special behind-the-scenes experience with a walk through the Formula E paddock. Kids 12 and under are free and all tickets are General Admission.

Regular-priced tickets, subject to availability, will be on sale at the gate April 2.

The Long Beach ePrix is the sixth of 11 scheduled races for 2015-16, including races in Beijing, Buenos Aires, Paris, Berlin, Moscow and two final races in London, England.

OFFICIAL ARTIST: ERWIN DAZELLEInternationally acclaimed French artist Erwin

Dazelle has been selected as the Official Artist for the April 15-17 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

His colorful artwork will be featured on the official Grand Prix poster, program cover, fan guide, brochures, tickets and other materials.

Dazelle, who was also the Grand Prix’s official artist in 2012, has been painting professionally since 1996. His accomplishments include artwork for Sunoco’s Official Fuel of INDYCAR 2011 point-of-purchase campaign, the 10th anniversary commemorative program cover for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead Miami Speedway and various event posters for the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance. He has also been commissioned by Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway and the Sanfermin Encierro Museum in Pamplona, Spain.

He initially honed his skills as a glass artist, inheriting a family tradition begun by his grandfather in southern France during the 1930s. Translating these techniques to canvas, Dazelle has developed a style that is at once bold and naive, and as sharp as it is colorful. Fusing iconic French imagery and traditional Basque themes with this graphic style has made Dazelle's works accessible and intriguing to all who view them.

TOYOTA PRO/CELEBRITY RACE GEARING UP FOR 40TH CLASH

In 1977, 10 cars, driven by the likes of pro drivers Bill Simpson and David Hobbs, along with celebrity drivers Shelly Novak, Dick Smothers, astronaut Pete Conrad and film star Gene Hackman, ran nine laps of the very first Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race.

At 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 , more than 20 cars — driven by past race winners! — will line up to take the green flag for the 40th Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race, including pro drivers like Al Unser Jr., Jimmy Vasser and Max Papis and celebrities like Keanu Reeves, Frankie Muniz, Adam Carolla and Bill Fichtner.

Over the years, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race has attracted a veritable "who's who" in the entertainment and sports communities...stars like Clint Eastwood, William Shatner, Jay Leno, Tim Allen, Cameron Diaz, George Lucas, John Elway, Walter Payton, Mary Lou Retton and Ashley Judd, to name a few.

Professional driving alumni include legends such as Parnelli Jones and Dan Gurney.

The 2016 contestants will be wheeling race-prepped Scion FR-S cars but, most importantly, Toyota's commitment in the Pro/Celebrity race and its sponsorship of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach has gone far beyond any on-track involvement.

Toyota has had a longstanding commitment to Southern California charities and through this event donates $5,000 to "Racing for Kids" in the name of each participant in the Pro/Celebrity Race and another $5,000 to the winning driver's favorite charity. In total, Toyota has donated more than $2.3 million to "Racing for Kids."

Racing for Kids, founded in 1989 by Dr. Bill Pinsky, is a non-profit program benefitting children's hospitals throughout the nation, with children's hospitals in Long Beach and Orange County benefitting locally.

COASTAL LIVINGLONG BEACH STYLE by Jared Thieme

The California Coast is a destination for many people seeking to experience year-round sun and fun. Just shy of 500,000 residents, Long Beach has transformed its industrial beginnings to include many international and cultural experiences.

In 1984, iconic venues such as the Long Beach Arena, Convention Center, and the Shoreline Marina were used for the Los Angeles Summer Olympics, hosting volleyball, fencing, and sailing.

Famous bands and artists such as Sublime and Snoop Dogg claim Long Beach as their home, and locally-recorded albums by Led Zeppelin and Rick James have helped cement the city's reputation for musical creation.

The art scene in Long Beach covers a wide variety of mediums, from street art supported by the City’s Mural and Cultural Arts Program, to the 1936 art deco ocean liner Queen Mary. You'll enjoy a walk through the East Village Arts District, where local artists exhibit their work. For another artistic experience, bask in the California sun while strolling down Ocean Boulevard. An abundance of historical architectural styles – including craftsman and bungalow along with the Long Beach Museum of Art – wait to be explored.

The city, too, has a perfect balance between soothing beachfronts and an upbeat nightlife. From its award winning restaurants and art museums to the family-friendly Aquarium of the Pacific, Long Beach has it all, including surfing, kayaking, and sailing just off the coast.

Just over three miles from Shoreline Drive, which transforms into the front straightaway and start/finish line of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, is Belmont Shore, packed with more than 250 businesses and restaurants such as Tilly’s, Belmont Brewing Company, and Simmzy’s, ready for your enjoyment.

Located just inland, California State University, Long Beach educates more than 30,000 students annually, and claims such distinguished alumni as Steven Spielberg, Steve Martin, and Troy Tulowitzki.

The city of Long Beach is truly the definition of coastal living, with the right balance of work and play creating a unique environment for visitors and residents alike.
