Technical Information Project Completion Date: October 27, 2015

Project Location: Portland, OR

Size of Project: Building No. 1: 12,847 cubic yards; Building No. 2: 3,733 cubic yards

Strength Requirements: 3,000 psi (footings and slab); 4,000 psi (tilt-up panels)

Water/Cement Ratio: 0.588 (footings and slab); 0.482 (tilt-up panels)

Unique or High Volume Admixtures: Used 1% - 2% BASF Pozzolith 200 N waterreducing admixture for slab and tilt panel pours.

Unique Specifications/Requirements: Overall tolerance for floor flatness was Ff 30/Fl 30. The project achieved values above both of these requirements.

Placement Challenges or Unique Techniques: We had a rolling surcharge pile that only allowed us to construct half of building #1 at a time.

Other Special Technical Aspects: Tail gated the majority of the slab-on-grade pours in lieu of using a line pump. Laser screeds were used to finish the slab-on-grades.

PDX Logistic Center – Phase I

PDX Logistics Center Phase 1 was first conceived in 2000 but site conditions and the economy delayed construction. When Perlo broke ground in 2013, this was the first

speculative industrial warehouse to be built in Portland in five years. Tilting up the hefty concrete panels required the use of a heavy-duty crane and permission from the Federal

Aviation Administration because of the building’s proximity to the airport.

Two separate buildings with similar finishes, including super flat burnished concrete floors, make up Phase 1 of PDX Logistics Center. Building 1 stretches across 383,040 square feet and Building 2 occupies 108,160. Despite being speculative when they were built, both

buildings are now fully leased.

To provide the best possible wear surface, concrete aprons meet up with the 123 dock doors on the cross-docked buildings.

The four corners of each building feature concrete walls accented with reveals and black elastomeric coating, providing an attractive contrast to the stark white walls surrounding the docks. Form-liners

were used on an adjacent concrete wall to offer additional texture and character.

A concrete courtyard centered around a memorial plaque sits outside the building, offering a tribute to the driving force behind the project

who passed away before it was completed.

With two buildings complete, Perlo has begun on the second phase of construction at the 26acre PDX Logistics Center. An additional tilt-up concrete building is underway, bringing the state-of-the art logistics park to a total of 846,400 square feet of space

and satisfying a need for large Class A industrial park space.
