Reception: Thursday, March 24, 5:00 - 9:30 PM Special one-night only performance at 4AM Gallery with Greg Siff

Pacific Design CenterBlue Building: Lobby & Second Floor8687 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, CA

designLAb is pleased to announce its new spring season with exciting new art and design exhibitions that open with a public reception on Thursday, March 24 from 5:00 - 9:30 PM. Fourteen exhibitions will be on view in Pacific Design Center’s Blue Building Lobby and Second Floor.

On the second floor above the Blue Lobby, twelve gallery exhibitions feature mixed-media exhibitions such as Gregory Siff’s studio performance involving painting directly onto live nudes, documented in large format black & white photographs by Treats! Magazine editor/founder Steve Shaw, and again re-painted by Siff using ink, diamond dust, gold leaf and lipstick. The exhibition, entitled “8 Loves” is on view at 4AM Gallery and please don’t miss the special one-night performance with Siff the evening of the opening.

Varola gallery presents Morphic Fields, a monumental installation of bronze sculptures by Los Angeles-based artist Anthony James. Working in bronze led James to think of his work in terms of transcendence, death, rebirth - the never-ending cycle of life, and furthermore, in relation to biologist Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of “morphic resonance.”

Thomas Paul Fine Art presents ink wash paintings by Cairo born Bassmi Ibrahim. Made with large calligraphy brushes that recall the fluidity of water and the haziness of mist, Ibrahim paints for his “inner self” in an automatic, subconscious style, painting his “soul and spirit” on canvas.

On view through July 29 in the Blue Lobby: a retrospective by acclaimed Italian architect/designer Antonio Pio Saracino, recent work by LA-based artist Matt Johnson and Gerardo Hacer’s origami-based sculptures The Fold: Mountain and Valley.

During the reception, enjoy happy hour (cash bar) at Red Seven, located on the first floor of the Green Building.

That’s because the Raise The Caliber® Lighting Collection was created for that specific purpose … to make Detroit safer by helping to get illegal guns off the streets.Designed by Joseph Jeup, Inc. as part of the Raise the Caliber® initiative, each lighting fixture in the collection is hand cast in bronze and etched with the serial number of a gun that might otherwise have contributed to needless violence.
