Hockey NSW President’s Welcome Message

On behalf of the Board of Hockey NSW, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2019 Under 13 Boys & Girls Indoor State Championships. We hope your trip here was safe and enjoyable. Last years Under 13’s State Championships saw dozens of players being selected for their respective State sides. Both of these teams achieved fantastic results at the National Championships, Hockey NSW couldn’t be prouder of their performances on and off the courts. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the sponsors of these State Championships, and to the Orange Hockey Association and it’s volunteers for hosting us. A big Thanks to Orange City Council for their continued support of Hockey in the region This weekend marks the beginning of eight weekends of Indoor State Championships, so I’d like to extend our gratitude to all of the volunteers, officials and support staff for their efforts over the coming weeks. Without these fantastic people, our events would not be possible. Finally, good luck to all teams and athletes competing this weekend! RESPECT FOR OFFICIALS AWARD

RESPECT FOR OFFICIALS AWARD is an initiative to encourage competing hockey teams, team officials (off field staff) and spectator groups

to play in the true spirit of the game.

Playing in the true spirit of the game involves, but is not limited to, adhering to the rules outlined in the codes of behaviour. Teams that demonstrate the true spirit of hockey will be rewarded with points corresponding to their degree of fair play at the end of each match.

Without RESPECT FOR OFFICIALS there would be no Officials to run this great

game.

In 2019 only one RESPECT FOR OFFICIALS AWARD will be presented to the Association that shows these qualities across all teams over the

Championships.

This award is judged by the Hockey NSW Officials appointed to the Championships with behaviour, communication and level of spirit of the

game taken into account.

This award is presented at the presentation ceremony and takes over from the PLAY THE WHISTLE award of previous years.

2018 U13 Boys + Girls Indoor State Championship Results

Selection of the Hockey NSW U13 Boys and Girls Indoor Hockey Teams to compete at Australian Indoor Carnival

To be eligible for selection in the 2020 U13 Girls and Boys Stars and Lions Indoor Teams, athletes are expected to participate in the Indoor State Championships. An Exemption must be submitted

to Hockey NSW for approval prior to the commencement of the below Championships for ath-letes unable to participate. See link above. This can also be found on our Hockey NSW website under ‘Competitions’ > ‘Indoor State Championships’ > ‘State Championships Forms’ > ‘SC15 -

Exemption Form’.

U13 Boys Indoor State Championships 1st to 3rd November 2019 U13 Girls Indoor State Championships 2nd to 4th November 2019

2 teams of up to 12 athletes each will be selected for both Boys and Girls to participate at the 2020 Under 13

Australian National Indoor Carnival, published via the Hockey NSW website at 3pm Wednesday 6th November subject to final ratification by Hockey NSW. The 2020 Under 13 Australian National

Indoor Carnival will be held between Saturday 18th – Tuesday 21st January 2020 inclusive in Wollongong, NSW.

A Hockey Australia directive in 2018 is that the two teams selected to represent NSW are of equal standard and thus the typical ‘State’ and ‘Blues’ does not apply to team selections.

A further pick-up list of up to 12 athletes will be provided to Hockey NSW and notified via email by Hockey NSW. Athletes on this list are the only players who will be considered for release to

other States if a request is made to Hockey NSW. Please note that athletes should under no circumstances contact States or Territories in this regard and will be contacted by

Hockey NSW should they be selected.

All athletes and parents should be familiar with the Hockey NSW Selection Policy available via the website. Due to the large volume of players competing at the State Championships, Hockey NSW

will not provide individual feedback to athletes.
