State of Poland Community School
Goals:
• To provide an overview of student achievement and student behavior data
• To share “Next Steps” for moving forward
PCS features• 477 students • 71 staff including 39 ½ teachers, 17 ½ ed
techs, 1 counselor• 50 % Free and Reduced lunch• 9 new staff (5 teachers) at Poland Community
School• PTA Involvement• 500 Guests on Grandparents’ Day!
PCS goals
• Further develop a comprehensive PBIS system (SP A.1.d, support at-risk subgroups)
• Continue to use data to identify student needs and provide interventions including school-wide WIN (What I Need) time (SP A.2.c, intensifying interventions)
• Increase community engagement through sharing of information and community-building events (SP C, build community collaboration and communication)

Academic Interventions• To further improve achievement, we have instituted
WIN (What I Need) Time school-wide in five 30 minute
blocks per week.
• Monthly Data/Supervision meetings
• School-wide work on PBIS*

• New office referral form with specific interventions• School-wide behavior matrix, common lessons, staff development• Teachers assigned lunch/recess duty every day• Bus lessons started last year• Continued behavior lessons in class to support bus and school building

Commendations• Parent involvement: 95% participation at Student-Led Conferences, Volunteer
training and involvement (346 volunteers trained), The Giving Tree (donation)
• Staff supports for students: Panther Pride, Giving Tree, eating in classrooms,
supporting in other classes (Mrs. McFarland)
• Our kids make a difference: In the last three years we have send over 700
pounds of candy to troops serving overseas as part of Operation Gratitude, Life
Skills Program integrated into everything done at PCS, Food drive, Diabetic
Fundraiser
