Innovative School: Castlen engages students in “Application Alley’s” by providing programs and opportunities for students to use and test their academic skills, in and out of the classroom. Agriculture, science, engineering, technology, and mathematics opportunities guide student engagement in all grades and academic areas. Our goal each year is to provide students with academic skills and application opportunities that will grow their optimism and confidence for success in college and/or the work place.

Castlen offers engineering in every classroom throughout the school year. Problem-solving, working through real-life scenarios with evaluation and redesign components build strong work ethics and application of skills among our students. Students are provided with opportunities to take a crucial look at their work for the purpose of improving their work.

Our innovative school learning environment, combined with the Alabama College and Career Ready Standards, best practices and the current research to raise student content mastery, insures students are prepared for a successful future in the ever-changing global work environment.

Castlen Elementary is recognized as a Mobile Area Education Foundation STEM Leadership School.
