Choose activities from ELA and Math to work on daily. Science/Social Science activities
can be completed twice a week. The assignments in this packet do not all have to be
completed.
ELA Grade K - 2
Have your child:
Read for 20 min a day.
Listen to a story.
Illustrate their own story and share it with you.
Practice writing their name.
Practice writing the alphabet
Tell someone about your favorite character from the story, and write one sentence about what you liked about the character.
Practice writing capital and lowercase letters.
Write as many sight words (https://sightwords.com) as you can in two minutes.
Work on the Sight Word activity.
Complete the Reading Response Log.
Brainstorm as many rhyming words as you can for the following word families: (-an, -at, -ap, -et, -un, -in -op, -og, -on).
Write a letter or an email to a friend, family member, teacher, health worker, or a volunteer to let them know how much you appreciate them.
Play games such as Eye Spy, Simon Says, and board games.
Draw a picture and write 3 sentences to go with it.
Write 5 things you know about your favorite animal.
Write 5 things you like to play with at home.
Write 5 things you like to do outside.

Math 2 - 5
Have your child:
Count to 50.
Count to 100.
See how many different 2-dimensional shapes you can find in your kitchen, bedroom, living room. (circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, etc.) Draw a picture using those shapes.
Count as high as you can by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s.
Count aloud by 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, or 10’s, starting at different numbers (28, 15, 40, etc.).
Find 10-20 things in your home, and make up a math problem using the items. Tell or write a math story with the numbers.
Play addition/subtraction games.
Make patterns with blocks, Legos, or household items.
Sort blocks, Legos, or household items and then explain their sorts.
Look at magazines, papers, or available print to find large numbers. Read the numbers out loud. Write the number and label the place value for each place.
Take a handful of small items (pennies, cereal, chocolate chips, etc). Make equal groups
into arrays and write the math facts. (See example).

Writing
Write about the following topics.
Use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and
punctuation at the end of the sentence.
A paragraph should contain a topic sentence, three to four
supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence.

Addition and Subtraction Facts Activities
Roll the dice: Dice can be used in so many different ways when it comes to math.
Try creating your own math problems with the roll of the dice.
Bingo: Create bingo cards with answers to math facts on them. The caller
announces a problem, and if the answer is on your board, mark it!
Memory: Write math fact problems on one card and the answers on another.
Mix up the cards and flip them upside down. Try to find the matches!
War: Play war with a deck of cards. Instead of the winner being the person with
the higher number, the winner is the person who adds or subtracts the two
numbers together correctly first. (You might want to take out the Jacks, Queens,
Kings, and Aces)
Jenga: Write math facts on Jenga pieces. You must answer the math fact of
whichever piece you pull.
Go Fish: Play ‘Go Fish’ with a deck of cards. The pairs must add up to 10 (or
whatever number you decide).
