them: ROCKY with Emily Ratner, QUEEN with Rachel
Galginaitis, ROXY with Matt Jurick, JERRY with Dan
Binebrink, NEIL with Steve Solomon, MAURY with Michaela
Clemons, SCOTTIE with Bob Dowling, BASIL with Susan
Ginsberg, BART with Tracy Crotty, FRITZ with Ravi Bhalla,

shirts, Tracy Crotty for the monthly heartworm preventatives,
and extra handlers Austin Elko, Wanda Williams, Eric Chaiet,

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN VIRTUAL CAMPAIGN -
SHARE STORIES, PHOTOS OR VIDEOS
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is PAW’s largest single source of
revenue. In 2020, after fees were removed, we received $17,995. The CFC is
beginning this year's campaign and would like PAW to share success stories -
which will be included in the CFC Virtual Charity Fair and further connect
federal employees and retirees to the impact of their gifts.
Do you have a story worth sharing? Or do you have photos or videos we can use to promote PAW's work?
Please share them with the CFC coordinator, Sanjeeta Pant at [email protected]. We need your inputs by
Thursday, September 16. Thank you for your support, and we will keep you posted on the CFC campaign for

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING VIDEOS BY YOUR DOG’S
FRIEND – For details, location, and to register for a workshop, visit Your Dog's
Friend at https://yourdogsfriend.org/free-workshops. Or call 301-983-5913.
Instead of meeting in person, workshops will be webinars that can be joined
from your computer, tablet, or phone. You will still be able to ask questions.
Dog Training Essentials – loose-leash walking and coming when called.
Saturday, September 18, 2:00 – 4:00pm. Dragging you to sniff the local “pee
mail”, lunging toward neighborhood dog friends, and running after squirrels,
despite trying to call your dog back … sound familiar? Make walks an enjoyable
experience with a canine partner who is totally in sync with you, and rest easy knowing that your dog will
return when you call, even around distractions. It’s simpler than you think! Speaker: Amie Glasgow, CDBC,
ADT, CSAT; Oscar Winning Behavior (oscarwinningbehavior.com) Please register in advance so that you
receive the info you’ll need to join the webinar.
Advice for Adopters & Puppy Parents. Sunday, October 10, 2:00 – 4:00. Learn how to make life with your
new dog easier and more fun! Come hear a trainer discuss dog training and behavior, helpful pet products, and
the many common issues that new dog parents face. There is also time to discuss your individual concerns.
Although designed for new dog and puppy parents, this webinar will also help those of you who have lived with
your dog longer. Potential adopters and foster parents are also welcome. Presented by: Sarah Stoycos, KPA-
CTP (http://www.laughingdogacademy.com); Lisa Arant (www.smallandtalldogtraining.com); Susan
Sanderson, PMCT3, KPA-CTP (www.joyfuldogllc.com); or Marnie Montgomery, PMCT4, CPDT-KA
(www.joyfuldogllc.com). Please register in advance.

CRITICAL NEED OF FOSTER HOMES
RUSTY is a 2-year old "American Brown
Dog" (vet opinion of breed coming soon but he is
obviously a brown dog). 45 lbs, described as
sweet, well-mannered, and good with dogs, cats,
and kids. He is coming from a sad situation in
which his elderly owner had a massive stroke and
can no longer care for him. If you are interested
in fostering RUSTY, please contact Dave
Campbell at [email protected].
JERRY is a 11 month, 53 lb Siberian Husky mix. He
is a happy excitable puppy, who loves to give hugs
and kisses and play with his toys and his people. He is
food motivated and knows basic commands like sit and
stay. However, he could use some training to help with
his leash manners. Jerry does well on car rides and he
enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs. If you
would be interested in fostering JERRY, please contact
Tracy Crotty at [email protected]

LUCY is a 75 pound, 4 year old German
Shepherd. If you are interested in fostering
LUCY, please contact Dave Campbell at dog-
PAW IS NOT
ABLE TO PULL
LUCY FROM THE
SHELTER
UNLESS WE CAN
FIND A FOSTER FOR HER.
ROXY is a 4 year old, 67-pound Labrador
Retriever/Akita mix. She is a sweet girl who likes
attention and giving kisses. She would be good with kids
over the age of 12 . We have discovered she can be dog
selective, therefore she would probably do best in a home
as the only dog. Roxy knows basic commands and enjoys
hiking in the woods. Watching her fluffy, curly tail wag
when she is happy will brighten your day. If you would
be interested in fostering ROXY, please contact Tracy
Crotty at [email protected]

ROCKY, a PAW volunteer favorite, is a 70
pound, four-year-old treeing walker coonhound.
He’s an affectionate companion who enjoys
exploring trails, trotting down sidewalks, or just
sitting next to you on the ground cuddling. He
wriggles his behind and prances with his front
paws when he knows he’s going for a
stroll. While out and about, Rocky simply glances
at the people and other dogs along the way.
Rocky relishes human affection. When you
scratch his neck under his jaw, he points his nose
straight up to the sky and closes his eyes. Rocky
is house trained. Rocky in Action. If you are
interested in fostering ROCKY, please contact
Dave Campbell at dog-coordinator@paw-
rescue.org.
GENEVA is a 5-year-old, 65-pound Treeing Walker
Coonhound. She is a very sweet girl who can be a little
timid at first. She does not know any commands and
needs to gain confidence. She loves just being next to
you but doesn't like other dogs jumping on her or rough
play. She is heartworm positive and has begun treatment.
She would love a nice home to relax in while she is
undergoing her treatment. If you would be interested in
fostering GENEVA, please contact Tracy Crotty at
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND THANKS

Rockville Kenneled Dogs – ROCKY, GUS, and QUEEN hung out together at Sniffers last week. Jamie Smith,
Jared Saltzberg, Dan Aldana, Cristin Caine, Rachel Galginaitis, Ryan Galginaitis, and Katie Kosack each
somehow found themselves in the neighborhood and decided to make a visit and some perambulation.
College Park Animal Hospital – It was a happy holiday week for the PAW dogs at CPAH. LUKE, REESES,
CALVIN, HOBBES, GENEVA, SASHA, and SANDY got to play with Ellen Kowalski, Michele La Rocca,
and Lalynn Kurash. Lucky pups!
WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
KAHLUA (adopted by Jodi) is working hard on
training & not pulling my arm out of the socket when
he sees a deer. He doesn’t bark, but when he wants to
go on a walk (his favorite thing besides food), he will
talk to you if you don’t pay attention. He also likes to
try to crawl up on my lap while I’m working in my
laptop at the dining room table—and has made an
appearance at several Zoom meetings.

CINDY is doing well! (CINDY was in last week’s
PTW adoption cavalcade) I changed her name to
KIRBY, lol. She is currently on the couch next to me
snoring haha. We have a checkup appointment next
Thursday at the vet. I took her to groomers over the
weekend!
BURT (He was also in last week’s adoption list)
Burt is doing great! He's still figuring a few things
out, like going up and down stairs which seems like it
was new for him, but he's already a pro. I don't have
any concerns so far, just trying to get him into his
routines, but he's been super chill for a beagle!
Thanks for reaching out. I'll be sure to let you know
if anything comes up but so far, so good!

JOEY - I'm also a PAW volunteer! JOEY, now
named CHARLIE, is doing fantastic! He has settled
in so quickly and nicely. He is a super smart, friendly
guy and we already feel bonded. We look forward to
having lots of fun adventures together. We are grateful
to PAW for helping us find our little man. Thanks for
checking in with us!
