Developed marketing plan, brand image and graphic design for USC’s leadership society

- Design and build a jacket using Mao Zedong’s traditional cut - Use a maximum of two materials - Customize the jacket with generative detailing

- Poke all seams outward to reveal structure and provide smooth interior for skin- Minimize weaving patterns yet maximize variation through wire manipulation: stranded vs open, knotted vs. braided, brushed vs. twisted, oxidized vs. untouched- Organize stitch type based on the location of the material on the human body

M A O J A C K E T | C O P P E R W I R E 4,236 feet bare stranded copper wire

Walnut plywood, walnut hardwood, and white chiffon

- Reveal how architecture can increase our awareness of the present moment - Create a visual, haptic and acoustical connection between the individual, the breeze and the breath through the subtle fluttering of the fabric - Determine the height of fabric, contour of base, and width of wooden slats based on human form

Neil Leach + F. Myles Sciotto | Fall 2013 SPINNING SPINES | LA ARTWALK INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION

- Study the elephant trunk and human spine so biomimicry can inform the design process- Track ambient motion within a space as a means of actuating deliberate move-ments in a group of computer-programmed spines

- Standard wiffle balls and custom-designed laser cut acrylic ‘vertebrae’ are strung together with fishing wire to create a spine- Two stepper motors pull and release the spine- Vary lever arm length, cruciform vertebrae shape and height of spacers to manip-ulate spine-like movement - Selected for ‘Building Site’ exhibition at A+D Museum in Spring 2014

Challenges and Intent- The school sits at the intersection of Glendale and Sunset overpass – a unique moment that breaks the LA grid, as one street splays out from the orthogonal - Thus, the private classroom section splays out from the public social section

- To design an educational facility that respects local context, provides ample social spaces and also private study niches with generous natural lighting - Create an adaptive façade with metal fins that rotate based on sun path, inspired by Ørestad College in Denmark by 3XN Architects

Challenges and Intent- Educate visitors about the rich mining history and natural rock formations on site - Build circulation upon existing hike to Lost Horse Mine - Provide indirect diffused natural light and natural ventilation in the central open exhibit space

- Carve intimate learning spaces within large exhibit, which is inspired by Vittra Telefonplan in Sweden by Rosan Bosch Architects- Puncture floor of exhibition space with on-site boulders for geothermic cooling, natural ventilation, and interactive learning

- CNC Mill and vacuum-form the form work for precast concrete model - Use Autodesk Vasari, Ecotect Analysis, Climate Consultant and Computational Fluid Dynamics to study environmental conditions

Challenges and Intent- Activate courtyard as intended by urban planner Ildefons Cerdà- Revitalize the 22@ Industrial District of Barcelona on Llacuna Ave- Connect city center to sea, live and work facilities, and modern with historical architecture

- Revitalize the historic buildings by making them entryways to the courtyard - Weave new education facilities discreetly into the urban fabric - Provide the adult trade school and day care facilities that the community needs
