Played a key role as Cost Lead in establishing proper and robust cost control on a major Chevron EPC Capex Project and successfully convinced Chevron PRC + Partners to approve the funding to commence Phase 4 (construction) on the project. The project was close to being scrapped when I arrived in Kazakhstan Jan-08. Trained a Cost Team of six Republic Of Kazakhstan nationals with minimal cost control experience over a two year period to a level of competence such that my Cost Team were able to replace me on the Project by the end of 2010. Lead Wells Cost Engineer (Residential Dubai) – Shell (Majnoon Oilfield – Iraq) : August 2014 To Present

Responsible for preparation of Shell Wells annual Work Program & Budget. Creation of SAP WBS’s & Newtorks to ensure all WP&B well costs are booked to the correct cost centres / GL

accounts. Creation of SAP Dassian cost model Baseline for Drilling & Well Services campaigns. Cost estimating for different types of wells to be included in future well cmpaigns (ie Exploration & Appraisal,

HPHT, Production & Development, Sidetracks, Water Disposal Wells). Preparation of annual wells timewriting estimate and budget. Update of Drilling schedule (Short Term and Long Term Drilling Sequences) on a monthly basis. Preparation of Capex well AFE’s to ensure approval to drill 30 days prior to spud date. Design and implementation of daily wells cost tracking tool to ensure accurate and timely well cost data is

provided to wells team management on a weekly basis. Design and implement a Well Services cost tracking tool to accurately track and report ongoing well services

operations based on a level 4 P6 schedule on an annual basis. Carry out rigorous analysis of all historical Majnoon Well Services expenditure to provide Well Services team with

accurate job cost data to assist in estimating future work programs.

Detailed knowledge of SAP system in order to analyse ‘Actual’ costs and provide management with detailed cost reporting including ‘Actual’ V’s ‘Plan’, Value of Work Done (VoWD), AFE V’s Estimated Final Cost (EFC) and full year forecast V’s budget including variance analysis.

Provide full visibility on Shell historical Majnoon well costs for FCP & ASP-1 well campaigns (23 wells) and benchmark these wells against other Middle East operators.

Ensure all historical Majnoon well costs are fully reconciled and close relevant well WBS’s / Networks in SAP. Provide monthly cost reporting for all well related expenditure (Drilling, Workovers & Well Services) to Shell

management and external stakeholders (Sothern Iraq Oil Company / Petronas). Generate accurate Value of Work Done (VoWD) for all well related expenditure on a monthly basis and prepare &

submit monthly accruals to Finance department. Ongoing analysis of all SAP Service Entries (SE’s) / invoices to enure compliance against contracts. Liaise with vendors regarding any disputed invoices and resolve disputes in a timely manner to ensure payments

are made according to contractual terms and conditions. Closely monitor and report expenditure against SAP PO’s and master contract values to ensure all expenditure is

within PO / Contract values to ensure 100% cost recovery. Assist in commercial tender evaluations – ie comparison of rates, terms and conditions for submitted bids. Generate Anticipated Contract Values for future Drilling / Well Services campaigns using historical cost data,

existing contract rates, market prices and internal Shell Drilling / Well Services schedules or workpacks. Carry out detailed ACV comparisons based on a variety of different contracting strategies (ie ‘Day Rate’, Lump

Sum Turnkey, Integrated Services, etvc). Compile and submit monthly / quarterly benchmarking performance cost data to ‘Rushmore’ reviews for Majnoon

wells using technical well reports, and SAP cost data. Prepare all wells cost data for submission to Shell Quarterly Wells Performance Dashboard. Attend quarterly

reviews as focal point point for all Majnoon well expenditure. Generate wells expenditure Latest Estimate (LE) against ‘Plan’ (Budget) on a quarterly basis and ensure the LE is

reflected in SAP / Dassian reporting structure. Respond to a wide variety of ah-hoc Drilling / Well Services cost queries and ensure accurate cost data is provided

in a timely manner. Demonstrate 100% commitment to Shells HSE policy.

Wells Cost Engineer (Rotational) – BP Rumaila Oilfield Operations – BP Iraq : April 2011 To May 2014

Responsible for preparation of annual wells expenditure budget in excess of $1Billion. Generating accurate well cost estimates and raising well AFE’s as and when required. Detailed daily cost tracking and reporting for 11 Workover Rigs & an extensive Rigless Well Services programme. Providing weekly / monthly / quarterly VoWD, Actuals, Forecasts including full variance analysis against budget. Tracking and reporting expenditure against multiple Well contracts to avoid contract overspends. Benchmarking well cost data for use in future annual budget preparation. Validating invoices against contracts to ensure invoiced costs are coded accurately to Well AFE’s & Ledger codes. Ensuring all tangible equipment used is expensed accurately to the correct well and ledger cost code. Presenting month end / quarter end wells expenditure data to BP Finance management. Senior Project Cost Engineer / Supervisor (Rotational) – Chevron (TengizChevroil) : January 2008 – January 2011

Develop and implement robust cost control and reporting mechanisms for all project expenditure. Analyse costs against project AFE’s posted to ledger and confirm their validity. Track daily expenditure against AFE’s during engineering design, procurement and construction phases. Work closely with Project planning & scheduling to monitor progress and calculate associated expenditure. Calculate budgets for various phases of the project, including manpower and overheads costs. Work closely with engineers in design office and on site to ensure expenditure is captured and reported accurately. are captured in CTX cost tracking system. Ensuring all rental equipment is ‘On Hired’ / ‘Off Hired’ accurately in the CTX system. Providing cost to date and estimated final costs for all wells ongoing. Assisting in well reconciliations. Using CTX system to generate purchase order in BP Maximo system. Providing Drilling managers with timely and accurate well cost data. Answering any ad-hoc well cost queries from BP Wells Team.

Senior Wells Cost Controller – Shell EPE Aberdeen : November 2005 To January 2007

Assist Wells Life Cycle Engineer in the generation of Drilling Cost Estimate in SAP system. Develop and implement a cost tracker (Excel) to track expenditure on X-Border wells. Use SAP ‘Super-User’ knowledge and expertise to interrogate well cost data in SAP to confirm validity. Ensuring all well AFE’s are set up in the SAP network using the correct SAP network format. Utilise wells cost tracker in conjunction with SAP to ensure well expenditure is reported accurately. Interrogate ‘I-Wells’ to ensure that the wells cost tracker is kept as up to date as possible.
