    pattern for the squares

    materialstwo summers ago i made this blanket of an average cotton yarn, hook size 2,5-3mm. for the blocks i changed the pattern of a hexagon into this 'there is nothing

    used stitches(american english) ch = chain ss = slip stitch sc = single crochet dc = double crochet

    start with a magic loop1. 4 ch (= first dc and 1 ch), crochet *1 dc, 1 ch* 11 times (= 12 dc and 12 ch), closemagic ring and ss to third ch2. ss to first chain space of row 1. make 3 ch and 1 dc in first space, *2 ch and 2 dcin next chain space*, repeat between * * till end of row, end with 2 ch and ss to thirdch.3. ss to first chain space, make 3 ch and 2 dc in first space, *(2 ch and 3 dc in nextspace) twice, 3 ch and 3 dc in next space* crochet between * * 3 times, end with 2 chand 3 dc in next space twice, 3 ch and ss to third ch.4. ss to first chain space, make 3 ch and 2 dc in first space, 1ch, 3 dc in next space,1 ch, in the 3 ch space you create a corner: **3 dc, 2 ch, 3 dc**, *(1ch, 3 dc, 1 ch inthe next space) twice, (**make a corner**)*, crochet between * * 3 times, end with(1ch, 3 dc, 1 ch in the next space) twice and ss to third ch. fasten off.

    about this pattern:

    i foundthis pretty pictureon pinterest and was totally smitten. after a lot of googling and

    searching i wasnt able to find the pattern, so decided to figure the pattern out myself.dottie

    angels pictures of her thrifty find was very helpful, and i was happy to find out that this is

    actually a pretty simple pattern, so novices dont be alarmed! just go ahead and try it out for

    more pictures, check outthis,thisorthis post.

    about yarn/hook:

    any yarn with corresponding hook will do, i find that moving up a hook size from what the yarn

    says makes a softer material that would work better with a blanket. ive made pillows with these

    squares so that wouldnt matter so much. i usedsandnes duo (dk weight) and hook 4 mm and the

    square measures 88 cm, with garnstudio drops paris (aran) and hook 5 mm one square is a bit

    over 1010.

    1. one flower petal: 5 dc, take hook off loop, put hook (from front to back) through 3rd chain (the

    last ch of space before the 5 dc) and the loose loop, yo, pull through both loops on hook.

    2. the first dc on row is made by chain 3

    begin with colour of flower. chain 4, make circle with one slip stitch

    1st round:

    chain one, 7 sc in circle. end round with slip st in chain.

    2nd round:

    make 1 flower petal in each sc with chain 3 between each one, end round with slip st in 3rd chain

    at beginning of round = 8 petals

    3rd round:

    sl st into the first chain 3. make 2 flower petals in each chain 3, and chain 3 between each flowerpetal = 16 petals in round. end round with slip st in 3rd chain at beginning of round.

    change to background colour

    4th round:

    sl st into the first chain 3. *3 dc in the first 3 chain 3s, (3 treble crochet, chain 2, 3 treble crochet)

    in the next chain 3. repeat from * 3 more times. end round with slip st in 3rd chain at beginning

    of round.

    joining:

    i crochet the squares together with slip stitch. lay out two rows of squares, begin with the first

    two, make a loop on hook, put hook from front to back through back part of dc on last row, first

    on one, then the corresponding one on the other, yarn over and pull through three loops on hook.

    continue like this, when you reach the end of the first side of these two squares just go on and

    start with two new ones all across the length/width of your blanket/pillow, like so:

    Rnd 4: Sl st in next two sc (this should put you in the center sc of the 5 sc group).

    Ch 1, sc in same st. (Ch 4, sk next 4 sc, sc in next sc) 5 times. Ch 4, join with sl st

    in first sc. Finish off.

    Rnd 5: Join next color with sc in any ch 4 sp. (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sc) in same ch 4 sp.(Sc, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc, sc) in next five ch 4 loops. Join with sl st in first sc.

    Rnd 6: Ch 4. * In next ch 3 sp, (dc, ch 1) five times. Dc between next two sc. Ch 1,

    repeat from * five times. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. Finish off.

    Rnd 7: Join next color with sc in ch 1 sp to the right of any 5 dc "fan". Working in

    ch 1 spaces between dcs, 2 dc in next ch 1 sp, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp) twice, 2 dc innext ch 1 sp, sc in next ch 1 sp. (Sc in next ch 1 sp, 2 dc in next ch 1 sp, (3 dc in

    Square is 6 inches but can be adjusted by adding a row of sc or cutting out the last rowetc.

    Materials: Cream, Sage Green and Purple yarn. I used a Sayelle.

    Lower down the page you can see another version where I used red yarnfor the flower and black for the background

    Hook size 4.5mm or size needed to obtain a 6 inch square.

    Begin by making the background and add the flower at the end

    Always use ch3 for the first dc of each round.

    With green, Ch 6 and join with sl st

    Rnd 1: Work 16dc in ring. sl st to join

    Rnd 2: Working in BACK LOOPS ONLY: 2dc in each st around. sl st to join

    Rnd 3: *(3dc ch2 3dc) in first st, ch2, sk next 3 sts, hdc in next st, ch2 sk next 3 sts*.

    Repeat from * to * 3 times more. Join with sl st

    Rnd 4: sl st to corner ch2 sp, *(3dc, ch2 3dc) in space, ch1, (3dc in next ch2 space, ch1)twice*

    Repeat from * to * 3 times more.Join with sl stFinish off green yarn

    Rnd 5: Join cream in any corner space.*(3dc, ch2 3dc) in space, ch1, (3dc in next sp, ch1) 3 times*

    To make the flower

    HALF GRANNY SQUARE

    MATERIALS: Any size hook; 4 colors (or as many colors asyou wish) 4 ply worsted weight yarn.

    DIRECTIONS:

    With Color A, ch 4, join to form a ring.

    Row l (right side): Ch 3 (counts as a dc in this and allfollowing rows), 2 dc in ring, ch 2: corner sp made; 3 dc in

    ring; finish off Color A.
