CLASS NIGHT PROGRAM The Charles E. ' Walters school was the scene of the annual class ni ght on June 18. Each class participated in the progra-m, and individual honor roll certificates were presented by the Yaphank PTA . The kindergarten , under the direction of Mrs. Crause , sang three selections. Miss Anderson 's first grade recited the Twenty- third Psalm in unison. The second grade, with Mrs. Cochrane in charge , gave choral recitations. Miss McGlaughlin ' s third grade did a song and dance and Richard Lewin entertained with an ac- cordion solo. The fourth grade , under the direction of Mr. Tilling- hast sang a medley of cowboy tunes. Mrs. Welling ' s fifth grade followed with a square dance. The sixth grade, with the assistance of Mrs. Danner , composed a poem for each of the countries they studied during the year. Entitled "Around the World in 180 Days ," the group of poems was recited by students dressed in a costume appropriate to the country. The seventh grade , directed by ' Mrs. DeWqlf , concluded the program with a short skit. GRADUATION EXERCISES Ei ghth Grade graduation was held last Thursday night in the auditorium of the Charles E. Walters school , which was beauti- full y decorated with palms and flowers. In the absence of the Rev. Peter Fl ynn . who was unable to be present, the Rev. Carl E. Silver of the Yaphank and Middle Island Presbyterian churches , gave the invocation and benediction. The saultatory address was given by Jack Hofmann. Paul Cochrane played a trumpet solo. The Class History, Class Will and Class Prophecy were read by Helen Kalbach , Edith Martin and Jane Ferber , respectively. A vocal rendition followed by Susan Ho- lolob. Rev Silver was the guest speaker , and hs topic was "Having the Courage to be Different". The presentation of diplomas was made by Robert E. Williams , president of the board of education. The valedictory was made by Claus Guldhorn. Special awa rds were given to Claus Guldhorn , Edith Martin and Gerard Krause by Mrs. Swezey. She also present- ed honor roll cerificates to Robert Brand , Jane Ferber , Clans Guld- horn , Jack Hofnlann, Helen Kal- bach; and Edith Martin. CLASS NIGHT PROGRAMThe Charles E. ' Walters school

was the scene of the annual classnight on June 18. Each classparticipated in the progra-m, andindividual honor roll certificateswere presented by the YaphankPTA. The kindergarten, underthe direction of Mrs. Crause, sangthree selections. Miss Anderson 'sfirst grade recited the Twenty-third Psalm in unison. The secondgrade, with Mrs. Cochrane incharge, gave choral recitations.Miss McGlaughlin's third gradedid a song and dance and RichardLewin entertained with an ac-cordion solo. The fourth grade,under the direction of Mr. Tilling-hast sang a medley of cowboytunes. Mrs. Welling's fifth gradefollowed with a square dance. Thesixth grade, with the assistanceof Mrs. Danner , composed a poemfor each of the countries theystudied during the year. Entitled"Around the World in 180 Days,"the group of poems was recitedby students dressed in a costumeappropriate to the country.
