Today we hear of the woman who had such faith
that she wanted only to touch Jesus’ cloak. Be-
cause of her faith, her brief encounter with Jesus
was transformave in her life. It is her faith, and
his divine power, that allowed her to be healed
and changed. Jesus wants us to be healed as
well—let us approach him with great confidence
and faith, knowing that he can transform our lives.
Pray, Read, Discuss for This Week
Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24; 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9, 12—15; Mark 5:21 –43 or 5:21-24; 35b-43
“Approaching Jesus with great faith allows him to be at work in our lives.”
Pastor’s Notes
We do not know exactly how much harm came into the world with Adam’s sin. We do know that our un-
ion with God was broken, our intellect dulled and prone to error, our will impaired, and our death inevita-
ble. We do not know whether we were made for this world as our final goal with God or whether this
world was a temporary residence un!l we entered into the greater and deeper mystery of heaven, just as
we, as new-born children, passed through the birth canal into a larger and greater world. We do know
that the death, of which the Book of Wisdom speaks, is a dissolu!on of our body and soul, an aliena!on
from God and from this world, and something which God neither created nor delights in.
We do know that God offers us a way out of death and we know that that way has everything to do with
Jesus, His ministry, His cross, death and resurrec!on. The woman with the hemorrhages and the li(le girl
lying in her deathbed were both experiencing forms of death, and we know that Jesus had the power
within Himself to heal from sickness (small deaths) and bodily death (final death). Jesus’ Resurrec!on is
the ul!mate witness to the power of Jesus over ignorance, sin and death. It is this fundamental experience
of Jesus risen from the dead that a(uned His apostles and disciples that the fact that sin and death had
been undone is some fashion by Jesus. Thus is that Jesus, by becoming poor and experiencing death, has
made us rich and undone death for us. We proclaim this truth at every Mass when we say the “Mystery of
Faith” proclama!on a1er each consecra!on: “When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim
Your Death, O Lord, un!l You come again.” “We proclaim Your Death, O Lord, and profess Your Resurrec-
!on un!l You come again.” "Save us, Saviour of the World, for by Your Cross and Resurrec!on You have
set us free.”
Let us give thanks to God for not abandoning us to death because of the sin of Adam and because of our
own sin. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Blessings,
Fr. Stephen

Lord God, We put ourselves into Your hands,
and pray that You will bless us and our families
during the wonderful months of Summer. May we all help make our home
a place of relaxation, joy, love, peace and safety.
May we be generous and considerate, not thinking only about ourselves,
but helping others enjoy the blessings of Summertime.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen
Last Wednesday twenty grade 9 students from
Queen of Angels School were recognized as they go

The Liturgy Commi(ee is aware that we have a challenge
before us with regards to the use of the sanctuary space
prior to Mass. There are 2 compe!ng needs for this space.
The first being to build community through socializing. The
second is to create a respecIul atmosphere conducive to
prayer and to an encounter with Jesus, present in the
Blessed Sacrament and to prepare oneself for Mass.
To that end I am invi!ng anyone who would like to con-
tribute posi@vely to a commi(ee that will address this
challenge to leave their name and phone number at the
office. We will meet over the Summer.
Thank You!

Direct Debi t
Thank you to those parishioners who have signed up for Direct Debit since the Annual General Meeting or
increased their Direct Debit donations. We now have 63 parishioners giving through Direct Debit.
Direct Debit is a simple and convenient way of contributing to your Parish on a very planned and con-
sistent basis. It is simple to set up and simple to change if you so wish. You can choose the date or dates
of the month you wish the amount you have selected to be withdrawn from your bank account. If you wish, you can select
the amount you want to go to sanctioned collections (i.e. Needs of the Church in Canada, Catholic Missions in Canada
etc.) that happen throughout the year, or, you can contribute to these simply by placing an additional amount in an envelope
with your name and the name of the sanctioned collection on it and this amount will be added to your yearly donations re-
ceipt. Also, if you wish to contribute more than the original amount you have set up, this same method can be followed. If
for some reason, you want to change the amount withdrawn from your account or to cancel the Direct Debit; this can be
done by simply making your wishes known in writing.
When the collection basket comes around each week, there will be no more scrambling to find your envelope. You can sit
back with a smile, knowing that your offering is already in the bank!
If you haven’t already done so, please consider switching to this method of supporting your Parish.
Thank you.
