Sean will return August 23, 2019 Dear St. John Parish Community On this twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, we hear St. Paul tell us in his letter to the Hebrews “we must persevere in running the race that lies before us while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.” Paul’s words serve as a good reminder for all of us as we begin the 2019-2020 school year. Whether as a parent or teacher, volunteer or student, we must keep Jesus in our sights as we face the challenges and joys that a new school year brings. On Tuesday morning, August 20 th , 214 students will arrive on the campus of our parish school and fill our classrooms. Our enrollment is up by 10 students, and we welcome close to 50 new students and about 25 new families. We have three new elementary school teachers, several other new staff members, and a beautified campus that has a new sandbox area for TK and K, more green space adjacent to 1 st grade, a garden outside of the Spanish classroom (JPII), and a new water fountain on the lunch court that is eco-friendly: students are able to refill their plastic water bottles! These are just some of the many exciting things about the school year ahead. We are very excited about running this race to the finish line of high student achievement while keeping our eyes fixed on the real goal: our life in Jesus! For over 68 years, St. John School has provided a faith- filled learning environment in which children learn truthfully, live faithfully, and love charitably. You, the parish community, are an integral part of this Catholic education tradition that is dedicated to the work of Christ and has witnessed the growth and development of children into teenagers and adults who make positive contributions to our world. Thank you for your love and support of our parish school!
