1. Smoke signals warned them that strangers had

entered their valley 2. The Native Americans would have been

questioned and the soldados would have searched the village for runaway Indians from the missions.

3. To warn others of danger, we use signs, sirens, foghorns, and flags, etc.

4. Pasquala was frightened as she sat in the cave. She sat quietly and turned her face to the cave wall. At the end of the chapter, she was happy with her family and the tribe.
