Job Description/Outdoor Activities Officer/17.01.17 TE JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Regional Outdoor Activities Officer (Inclusion) Salary £25,000.00 Location Outdoor Partnership Offices, Carnedd Cottage, Capel Curig, Conwy, LL24 0ET Hours of work The standard hours will be 37 per week but the nature of the role may on occasions require working in excess of these hours to ensure core objectives are achieved. This will include evening and weekend work. Time off in lieu will be granted subject to the requirements of the service. The post holder will work closely with the Outdoor Partnership staff team to implement the Company’s vison and strategy for the outdoors (2016-2020) as detailed in the duties and responsibilities below. Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities

Assess the human resource needs of outdoor activity providers in North Wales to enable delivery of inclusive outdoor activities (SEN, mainstream schools, private providers, community clubs and other partners).

Develop, promote and maintain a wide range of outdoor activity taster sessions and development sessions for disabled people of Anglesey, Conwy and Gwynedd.

Establish an inclusive coach education programme with the Volunteer Officer. Establish an ambassador / community champion scheme with the Pathways to

Employment officer. Liaise with clubs to encourage them to become inclusive and work towards the

insport accreditation (Disability Sport Wales) Establish and support partnership networks between Disability Sport Wales,

National Governing Bodies, outdoor providers, SEN, mainstream schools, FE and HE establishments, outdoor clubs and other agencies and groups working with

under-represented groups to create new outdoor activity inclusive clubs. Offer advice and information to clubs and external organisations through face-to-

face, telephone and email contact. Generate income via funding applications and fundraising activities to make the

programme sustainable. Monitor and evaluate all recruitment aspects of the ‘Opening doors to the

outdoors for underrepresented groups’ programme, and key performance indicators to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate.

Report back to the CEO on a quarterly basis on agreed targets and outcomes. To undertake other duties and requirements associated with the post that the

company may call upon the post holder to perform from time to time.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management. Understanding of the needs of volunteers especially volunteers within the

development environment. Knowledge and understanding of disability sport. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in community development or similar Ability to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and competence within the

coaching environment. Knowledge of and experience of, successfully obtaining funding e.g. grant

applications, contracts and fundraising (ESSENTIAL).

Key Competencies TECHNICAL & POSITION RELATED

Educated to first degree level (highly desirable). High standard of accurate written and oral communication in both Welsh and English

(essential). Experienced user of IT especially Outlook (including electronic diaries), Word, Excel

and Database (essential) Current first aid certificate (desirable). Knowledge of National Governing Body Awards in outdoor activities (essential). Holder of one or more of the following NGB Awards (highly desirable);

- Hold a Mountain Training Award in hillwalking or climbing - BCU Level 1 Coaching paddlesports or higher- BOF instructor or higher- SMBLA or British Cycling Mountain Bike Leader award- Snowsport Wales/ESC Ski Club Coach or higher award- RYA Instructor Inland or Coastal or higher award

Personal practitioner in one or more outdoor activity (essential) Able to manage work effectively to ensure that work is completed efficiently Ability to work with minimum supervision, within a corporate framework Ability to prepare reports, accumulate data and complete grant application forms Contributing to Team Success: Actively participating as a member of a team to move

the team toward the completion of goals.

Other Valid UK driving license is required. This role is subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure check An understanding and commitment to equal opportunities in
