The caller stated that she believed they were walking toward the entrance of Durante Park. A check of the area yielded negative results in locating the Boxer or its owner. I advised her to contact LBKPD should she encounter future prob- lems with aggressive dogs. No further action taken at the present time. Bike rage 6:38 p.m. – Officer Martin – 5600 block, Gulf of Mexico Drive – I responded to the area of Harry’s Corner Store on Gulf of Mexico Drive regarding a case of road rage that involved a car and several bicyclists. I met at this location with the complainant and the pas- senger who were riding in their vehicle. They stated they had a run-in with a group of bicyclists who were riding side by side in the bike lane. This was causing them to swerve into the oncoming lane. There were words exchanged and one of the bicyclist’s threw water in the car and onto the occupants. I observed wet spots on the complainant’s shirt. The complainant gave me a description of the bicyclist involved. I was able to locate the bicyclist in the 400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive near the BP station. When I stopped them they knew why I was there. They stated they had exchanged words with the driver of a car who had nearly hit them. They stated that the car came very close to them, maybe trying to scare them. They stated that they were not obeying the three-foot rule. The suspect listed admitted that he threw the water at the car. He stated that he was unaware that it got on the occupants. After speaking with all parties it was decided that no further action was needed. They agreed to be more civil and follow the rules of the road. I explained to the suspect that he could have been charged with battery for throwing the water at the occupants in the car. He apologized and stated that he overreacted. I explained my conversation with the suspect to the complainant. He was satisfied that I got the point across and didn’t want to proceed further with it. April 4 Locked out 1:41 a.m. – Officer Thomas – 400 block, Gulf of Mexico Drive – Writer was conducting a business secu- rity check at the BP gasoline station when I located a fishing rod display on the front sidewalk of the closed store. The display held approximately six fishing rods of varying size and design. Writer had LBKPD dispatch contact the key holder. Upon speaking with the key holder, it was learned that the display had been left out in error after the business was closed. Writer confirmed with the key holder that it was all right to place the display near the store’s rear door and closely patrol the business for the night. The key holder said this would be satisfactory. Writer car- ried the display to the rear area of the store and closely patrolled the business throughout the night. Wanted for warrant 8:07 a.m. – Officer Skinner – 500 block, Broadway – Manatee County Sheriff’s Det. Rushing requested LBKPD to respond to the 500 block of Broadway in ref- erence to attempting to locate an individual who has an outstanding warrant for Violation of Probation. Officer Coffman, Officer Nagell and I, Officer Chris Skinner, did respond to the location where we made contact with the subject. I placed him under arrest without incident upon the confirmation of the Manatee County Warrant for VOP/ DWLSR. Custody of subject was transferred to Det. Rushing at the Manatee County Fire Station on Cortez Road. This concludes my involve- ment in this case. Flipped vessel 10:58 a.m. – Officer Nagell – Off the Key/Coquina Beach – While conducting a vessel stop, the operator lost control of the Jet Ski, flipping it and entered the water. A small juvenile male passenger also entered the water. I retrieved the male and placed him in the patrol boat and assisted the operator in righting the Jet Ski. I escorted her back to Coquina boat ramp. The Jet Ski was purchased yesterday and had only 30 minutes time on the water. I provided her with a safe Jet Ski pamphlet and advised her to take a safe boating class. I further suggested that she have no passenger until she is more familiar with its operation. Written warning issued for violation of speed zone. April 6 Surfing trespassers? 8:45 a.m. – Officer Bourdeaux – 6600 block, Gulfside Road – I responded to the location in reference to two white male subjects trespassing in order to surf. The complainant advised that she was unaware where the two subjects parked, but they entered the property through a side gate before going surfing. I noted that there were several signs posted around the property indicating no trespassing. The complainant stated that both subjects were possibly in their mid-30s and wear- ing rash proof shirts with swim-type shorts. I searched the area between the location and the pub- lic access to the south with negative results in locating the surfing subjects. Persons on the beach stated that they had not observed anyone surfing. I also checked the parking areas around the area with negative results. I advised the complainant to contact LBKPD should she see the subjects return or have any further issues with trespassers. She stated this is an ongoing problem during the day and at night. This concluded my involvement in this incident at the present time. Death threats lead to suspension 9:22 a.m. – Officer Walls – 200 block, Sands Point Road – I responded to the location for a disturbance report. When I arrived, I spoke with the director; he stated the following: Earlier in the day there was an inci- dent between two employees. Both work for the resort’s cleaning department and the female individual is male’s supervisor. Today she confronted him for taking an early break and he became very angry. He began screaming that he had rights and that he was required a break. He pointed his finger in her face and used profanity. The director witnessed this incident and also another employee wit- nessed it. The other employee eventually got between the male and female and told him to calm down. After the first altercation she walked away and went to another floor. The male employee found her and contin- ued to argue with her. He again was very verbal and told her that if she got him fired, bad things would happen to her. This time another employee separated them. The male subject also spoke with another employee, and he told her that if she, the female supervisor, got him fired, he would put two bullets in her head. After speaking with the director, I spoke with the male subject and he stated the following: He did not threaten anyone. He was upset with his supervisor because she took a break and would not allow him to take one. He told her that he had rights as a worker and that he want- ed his breakfast break. The male subject stated that he always takes his breaks at the same time, and she knows that. She was just trying to punish him for something that happened the other day. The male subject denies saying that he was going to harm her or that he was going to put bullets in her head. He stated that he has a family to support and he would never say anything to get in trouble or lose his job. He believes that several employees do not like him, and they are trying to get him fired. The director and his management team suspended the male subject from the resort and had him trespassed from all properties belonging to the resort. I issued him a trespass notice and escorted him off the property. At the time of this incident, the female subject was not available to be questioned. Nothing further to report at this time. April 7 Suspicious activity 12:53 a.m. – Officer Thomas – Colony Beach & Tennis Resort – Complainant advised that unknown sub- jects had apparently moved a water cycle that belongs to The Colony and may have entered the “Presidential Suite.” Further investigation showed that the water cycle was moved approximately 50 feet onto the beach. Writer and Capt. Quarmby moved it back to its former position. We also inspected the “Presidential Suite” and found that someone has been in the unit. It is unclear if it was trespassers or contractors inspecting the prop- erty.A close patrol was requested and will be performed.
