14:00 – 15:30WHICH TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS CAN ACHIEVESUSTAINABLE CHANGES IN MOBILITY?Round table organised by the Villa Vigoni

The participation of Villa Vigoni at the Hannover Fair in 2010, the

world’s leading showcase for industrial technology, with Italy as

this year’s official partner country, is part of a wider policy focusing

on trade relations between Italy and Germany.

The Italian participation was initiated and implemented by the

Italian Institute of Foreign Trade ICE under its current president

Ambassador Umberto Vattani. His invitation to participate was ac-

cepted by Prof. Dr. Gregor Vogt-Spira, secretary general of the Italian-

German institution Villa Vigoni, who will be present at the Hannover

Fair at a round table dedicated to the subject of sustainable mobility.

Topic: Mobility is what moves us in every sense. How can we achieve

sustainable mobility, decisive technical changes and changes in

our behaviour as quickly as possible, particularly in the urban realm?

Technical solutions for preventing the impending climate collapse

will be discussed, ranging from new drive systems to CO2 geo-en-

gineering. Considerable expectations are currently being placed

on electric motors. But is electromobility really the right solution

for achieving sustainability? What are the alternatives?

Moderator:

· Axel Kuhn – Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow

and Logistics, Dortmund

Introduction:

· Umberto Vattani – President, Villa Vigoni

· Gregor Vogt-Spira – General Secretary, Villa Vigoni

generation, without limiting the coming generation in terms of

satisfying their needs.

The concept of sustainable mobility, on the other hand, is concer-

ned with a system of urban mobility that enables everyone to

exercise their right to mobility but is so designed that social and

environmental systems are not overly burdened.
