The Brazilian Society for Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection is a non-profit, technical entity of private law, founded in1979 with the purpose of promoting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Inspection activities, seeking to preserve human livesand the environment.Through people qualification and certification activities, standardization, training, research, technical projects, events andpublications directed towards quality, technological enhancements, work health and safety and business management, theAssociation operates in multiple segments such as oil and gas, nuclear, chemical, steel, mining, marine, automotive, rail, pulp and paper, electronics and power generation.

Accreditations and acknowledgments

• Accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro), of the Ministry of Development, Industryand Foreign Trade, as a People Certification Entity - OPC-002, according to ISO 17024, for the training, qualification and certifi-cation of people in NDT, based on the criteria provided by ISO 9712.• Accredited since 2003 by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) as a Sectorial Standardization Entity -ONS-58, for the elaboration of NDT standards.• Accredited since 2009 by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), in order to act as an R&D Rese-arch and Development institution, in the areas of interest of the oil and gas industry.• Recognized by the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT) through the Mutual Recognition Agreement(MRA) of its People Qualification and Certification System.• Qualified since 2006 as Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP), by the Ministry of Justice. On August 14, 1997,Abendi was recognized as a sector technological entity (ETS) by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) andadministers and promotes technological information on Non-Destructive Testing, in order to promote greater competitivenessof the industrial complex in national and international levels.

People Certification

In the area of Qualification and Certification, Abendi started the National System of Qualification and Certification for Persons in non-destructive tests (SNQC/NDT) in 1981, which counts on the participation of several companies representing varioussegments of Brazilian national industry.

The SNQC was officially established in 1988 with a national scope and led to the establishment of criteria and rules in accor-dance with national and international requirements. Abendi is accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro), of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, as a People Certification Entity - OPC-02, according to the ABNT NBR ISO 17024 standard, for the qualification and certification of People, based on the criteria provided by ABNT NBR ISO 9712.

Training

Abendi offers training in Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection in several segments, in the following formats: On-Site, Open,In-company, Distance Education and Webinars. All held at the headquarters of the Association and at Recognized TrainingEntities.

Technical Field

Since 2004, Abendi has been working strongly in Standardization activities at the national level. This work, which began atABNT, has expanded and today we are also working in the Mercosur area and with the secretariat of an ISO Technical Committeerelated to Acoustic Emissions in order to actively participate in the development of other NDT international standards.

Execution of research and development (R&D) activities, aimed at scientific and industrial metrology, technical standardization, con-formity assessment for quality control, homologation and certification of new methodologies, products, processes and pilot units.

Events

Abendi promotes congresses, meetings, conferences and fairs for professionals, researchers, professors and students involved in the NDT and Inspection areas, industrial sectors and technology development, promoting integration and networking amongparticipants.
