Jakob is an undergraduate student of Social Work/ Social Sciences. He studies at the Fachhochschule (FH) Campus Wien in Austria and at the Università della Calabria in Italy, where he spent an Erasmus semester from September 2017 until February 2018. During his university internships, he worked in a school for refugees over the age of compulsory education (PROSA) and also in an institution for people with disabilities (Club 21) in Vienna. He wrote his first of two Bachelor Thesis about young refugees in the Austrian school system and the role of social work in this context.

Mizanur is a youth advocate and disability rights activist. He is the founder and president of the Physically-challenged Development Foundation- PDF and engaged 5,000 volunteers in this movement to unlock the potential of the youth with disabilities. In 2015, he received the Atlas Corps Fellowship and moved to the United States for a year to experience the disability rights movement. There, he gained working experiences at the Community Options Inc., Princeton, and the UN Envoy of Youth at the United Nation (2015-16). He was invited to speak at the HPAIR Harvard Conference, the Harvard Law School Project on Disability (HPOD), and the Conference of States Parties (COSP) to the UN CRPD, among others.

Jessica is completing her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Biology and Linguistics Studies. Her focus is on environmental and social policy, environmental management, and urban design - particularly ensuring cities are inclusive and accessible for all. She is also interested in the intersection between science, policy, society and action - and the effective communication between them. Jessica has volunteered in several organisations engaged in the areas of mental health, disabilities and sustainable development to combat inequity in society.

Sharifah is a single mother to two children with autism and a sister to a younger brother with autism. Sharifah has spent the majority of her life growing up and living with autism and has now dedicated her life’s work towards being an active youth advocate and youth leader for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). She is an active youth leader and member in her community for disabilities. She hopes to bridge the gap between PwD and the community. She is trained and specialized in Rights and Legislation Protection of PwD and contributes to the implementation of policies for adults with disabilities in employment.

Atanas is a Master’s degree student in Leadership in Information Technologies and a Social Entrepreneur. He manages IT projects in the Bulgarian start-up LegalTrek and works for Wheelchair Basketball in Bulgaria. Atanas is a Rotary volunteer and a trainer in the field of non- formal education.

Elisabeth pursues her Master’s in Globalisation and Law. She was also a student tutor for the European Law Student Association (ELSA) at her university and took part in the peer-coaching programme. Elisabeth’s main interests are in human rights and European law, as well as the interconnectivity of different disciplines such as technology and law. She is part of a student-based project called Technolawgeeks, an interdisciplinary initiative that brings together people with different knowledge backgrounds to tackle current problems.

Yan Yun is part of the Diversity Team, HR Department, at IBM China. She initiates and coordinates diversity projects internally and externally to promote rights for women, PwD, LGBT and work-life balance. Yan Yun also participated in a Training of Facilitators (TOF) for Social Inclusion.

Svea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Rehabilitation from the University of Zagreb and is pursuing her Master‘s degree in Educational Rehabilitation at the same university. During her studies, she helped to organise the International Student Congress. Furthermore, she created, planned, and conducted experience-based workshops about inclusion of people with disabilities for an Erasmus+ youth exchange in Vienna. Her professional interests include the multiple discrimination of women with disabilities, the role of economic systems in perpetuating inequality of PwD, and accessible activism.

Pisen was born with the absence of four fingers on his left hand in a slum area at the outskirt of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. With the support of his family, he was awarded a full scholarship, funded by the Cambodian Government and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (KAS), to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Media Management at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Later on, he studied International Relations at the Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia and went abroad for an exchange in the Philippines, fully funded by EU- SHARE Scholarship. Pisen did an internship at Voice of America Khmer in 2015.

Marie is a Trainee at PISA in OECD, Paris. Prior to this experience, she finished her Master’s degree in Comparative Education at the University College London. Her interest in education has been naturally growing since her first volunteering experience with children with disabilities in Greece. Later, she taught pre-school children in the Czech Republic and worked as a personal assistant for children with special needs in London. Besides her hands-on experience, Marie participated this year in the Human Rights Education Conference held by the Council of Europe and attended several research conferences related to international education.

Karina is a Master’s degree student at the University of Jönköping in Sweden. She studies Intervention in Childhood with a specialisation in Disability Research. Her previous educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She worked as an intervention specialist for children and young adolescents within the autism spectrum. In addition, she has worked as a camp counsellor for a disability camp where she first acquired the practical experiences working with individuals in need of special support. Next to her academic and professional life, she has volunteered at a refugee camp in southern Denmark and as an English tutor for Danish and foreign children.

Panayiotis studied Modern Languages and European Studies at the University of Cyprus. He continued his studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in the field of Public Administration, as he specialized in the analysis of citizens’ attitudes and perceptions towards EU institutions. He previously worked at the European Parliament. Panayiotis is an active person in the NGO sector in Cyprus and has been recently elected Secretary of International Relations of the Cyprus Youth Council.

Niklas holds a Master’s degree in Management and International Business. He has years of experience working with different NGOs on a local, national, European and global level. He has been active in issues related to human rights, youth policy and peace building. As a member of the International Committee of the National Youth Council of Finland he has acted as a representative delegate for EU and UN forums related to human rights and youth, peace and security. He delivered a speech in Geneva during the Finnish Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process speaking about violence against women, trans rights and hate speech.

Olivia is a Research Manager at Ecorys in London. Her work informs European and international decision-making through policy research and evaluation, with a focus on employment and social affairs. Olivia also co-runs IFAIR’s EU-ASEAN Perspectives Impact Group, a think tank voicing youth perspectives on inter-regional matters including social inclusion. Previously, Olivia managed a women’s economic empowerment project in Myanmar for a French NGO, and worked in several European institutions.

Lembe is an undergraduate student in Sociology with minors in Biology. Her main interest is in addressing problems for young patients’ in the healthcare system. Lembe was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis when she was seven years old. From an early age on, she has volunteered for the Estonian Rheumatism Association and is currently working on a voluntary basis as a youth activities coordinator. As a member of the EULAR Young PARE working group, her goal is to create an active support group for young people living with rheumatic diseases in Estonia. As a member of the European Patients’ Forum Youth Group, she wants to change national and pan-European social policies that discriminate young patients with chronic conditions.

Panourgias is a Master’s degree student at the University of Birmingham and has participated and organised Model United Nations and simulations of the EU Institutions. After graduating from the Evangeliki School of New Smyrni he studied English and Literature. He is an advocate of the No Hate Speech Movement and has represented his country on a seminar of the Council of Europe (CoE) concerning the access of youth into their social rights. He is a Humanity in Action Fellow and has participated in the conference on EU Disability Laws, organised by the Academy of European Law (ERA). He is member of several NGOs that advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

Borbala is a Transportation Engineer Master student at the Budapest University of Technology. In addition to her studies, Borbala participated in a study session organised by ENIL in Strasbourg in 2016, where she learned about inclusion and integration. In 2016, she took part in the Erasmus Mobility Programme in Warsaw, Poland.

Lavinia is studying Psychology of Rehabilitation at the University of Applied Sciences Magdeburg-Stendal. She currently writes her Master’s thesis on psychotherapy with patients with intellectual disability and mental disorder. Previously, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in the same field and completed her apprenticeship as a child care worker. Furthermore, she gained practical experience while working in a child- and after- school-care, as well as interning in different psychiatric hospitals and health institutions.

Rose works at Access Policy for the Higher Education Authority in Ireland. She is currently working on implementing the National Plan for Equity of Access to Higher Education 2015-19. She has been an advocate for people with disabilities in Ireland, in particular in the field of employability by trying to break down the barriers for PwD to enter the workforce. Rose has worked in youth work and community development in Ireland and the Philippines.

Mouhamed Jordan is an European Politics graduate from King’s College London and current MA candidate in Pacific Asian Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies in the United Kingdom. Throughout his studies, he developed an expertise in European and Asian affairs. From a professional point of view, Jordan has developed first working experiences in publishing.

Ni Komang obtained her Bachelor’s degree in International Law from Udayana University. She serves as Co-Founder and CEO of Diffago.com, a comprehensive solution platform that helps the enhancement of life of PWD through combining crowd-funding with online tools and connecting mobility aid buyers with expert providers. She started her professional career as Founding Team and Project Coordinator of DNetwork. net in Indonesia, a job network connecting employers and PwD. At DNetwork Ni Komang succeeded in making a positive impact on over 1,000 beneficiaries by partnering with over 200 companies and government officials to foster inclusive workplaces.

Lihyo currently pursues her Bachelor’s in Psychology at Sungkyunkwan University. In 2016, Lihyo was the youngest speaker at the International Congress of Psychology (ICP) in Yokohama, and participated in the Congress of the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP 2016) in Nagoya, the World Congress of WFMH 2015 in Cairo and the Regional Congress of WFMH 2015 in Singapore. In 2016, Lihyo received the Talent Award of Korea from the Ministry of Education for her outstanding scientific achievement in psychology research.

Momoko is currently persuing a Master’s degree in Sport and Olympic Studies at Tsukuba International Academy for Sport Studies (TIAS) with a focus in Sport for Development and Peace. Her research is on assessing the barriers faced by individuals with physical disabilities to participate in physical activity/sport. Momoko has lived in India, Nepal and the United States for most of her life.

Aikeo is blind since birth. He is currently the acting president of the Vocational Development for Blind Association advocating access to vocational training and employment for people with visual disabilities in Lao PDR. Furthermore, he works at the National University of Lao PDR to promote inclusive education for blind people. Aikeo comes from a family with people with disabilities and he believes that new assistive technology devices will reduce barriers for the blind to access quality education and to get better job employment opportunities.

Zane is currently studying Strategic and Public Relations Management at Riga Stradins University. She is a Public Relationship Manager of the Latvian Paralympic Committee. For the past 3 years, she has been the Chef de Mission for the Latvian National Paralympic team. Furthermore, she volunteers for the Latvian Radio 6, where she talks about youth related issues and encourages them to take part in different projects and self-development lessons all over Latvia. Zane grew up with people with different disabilities, since her mother uses a wheelchair. She also has participated in some EU projects concerning mobility, inclusion and Paralympic sports.

Rasa received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania. She is a social worker and project coordinator at the NGO Darnūs namai where she works with people with intellectual disabilities and their families. She is a member of the International Association for Social Work with Groups. Moreover, she works at the Children’s Rights Protection and Adoption Services in TOWN.

Wei Meng pursues a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences at the Nanyang Technological University under the scholarship by Kuok Foundation. He was awarded Dean’s List for School of Biological Sciences due to his excellent performance in Academic Year 2016-2017. Wei Meng is currently in his second year of his studies. He is participating in the undergraduate research which focuses in identify the carcinogenic protein in processed milk. His goal is to increase people’s health awareness when consuming processed food. Apart from his studies, Wei Meng is actively involved in community services.

Vladyslava is a 26-year-old para-athlete, a certified chartered accountant, works at one of the leading professional services firms and is the co-founder of the NGO Malta Youth Athletes Network. This organisation brings together active and former athletes to develop local sport through collaborative projects and advocacy initiatives. In September 2016, she became the first female swimmer to represent Malta at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In 2017, she received the Queen’s Young Leaders Award that recognises and celebrates young people around the Commonwealth who work hard to drive change within their communities.

Nomindari focuses on sustainable finance and the role of private sector mobilisation in financing more inclusive and green economic development. She was selected as one of the 16 Young Leaders for Development by the European Commission in 2017. Nomindari is a Fulbright nominee for the academic year 2018 - 2020 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Management from the Mongolia International University.

As a child with learning difficulties, Aung Myin Thu was advised to follow a vocational training path. He however pursued passing a matriculation exam at the Phaung Daw Oo monastic education school. He then studied General Education with a focus on Peace Education, Pedagogy and Service Learning at the Pre-College Program for one year before he went to New Zealand for Democratic Education courses. He is now working for the Phaung Daw Oo Pre-College Program as the program manager, teaching Global Citizenship Education and engaging with peace education and education reform processes in Myanmar.

Xavier is currently working as mobility- and accessibility manager at the Chamber of Commerce in Belgium. He is the contact person for companies to make their mobility more sustainable and connects them with the government. He is a volunteer of the Erasmus Student Network where he is the project coordinator of ExchangeAbility. This project aims to increase the number of students with disabilities to go abroad and to make the organisation even more accessible & inclusive.

Nicola is a Law and Sociology Conjoint student at Victoria University of Wellington. She has worked extensively as an educator, including music and arts education, and has taught many students with disabilities. Nicola was a delegate at the first New Zealand Fat Studies Conference in 2016. She has participated in two global eating disorder research studies. Her interests include the relationship between disability and gender, and erasing stigma surrounding mental health.

Per Fredrik is a student at University of Oslo where he is pursuing a Master’s degree in Economics. Next to his studies, Per Fredrik works for a shipping agency that caters to vessels transiting the Suez Canal. Furthermore, he has an extensive background from the Norwegian Army and Reserve Army, where he has worked full-time and part-time the last six years and now holds the rank of an officer. For the last six months, Per Fredrik has been working with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Singapore as a management trainee.

Jude Ryan is a development and humanitarian professional. He is a specialist on programme management, policy advocacy, child rights, inclusion and disaster risk reduction. He has worked with Handicap International, World Vision International and ChildFund International. Jude Ryan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and a Master’s degree in Public Governance at West Visayas State University in Iloilo City in 2009 and 2011, respectively. In 2016, he earned his Master in Community Development at Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet. He is on his way to obtaining his Doctoral of Development Management (DDM) majoring in Community Resource Management at Iloilo State College of Fisheries.

Mariusz graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Lodz University of Technology as well as from the European Academy of Diplomacy. Moreover, Mariusz studied at University of Aveiro in Portugal within the Erasmus + Programme. He gained professional experience working at the LNG Terminal Development Project, residential developments and currently in the precast industry, working for Consolis Engineering Services. He has also been engaged in the organisation of students; projects, including a job fair for 17,000 participants organised by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Mariusz is currently leading youth engagement projects within the International Committee for Education of ESN AISBL.

Mafalda has a Portuguese mother and a Kiwi (New Zealand) father. From an early age she developed a strong interest in working with other people, volunteering for various organisations: MOCAMFE (holiday camp organisation focusing on the personal growth of children and young adults); ESN Lisboa (Erasmus Student Network) and Obretebre (Catalan NGO supporting the integration of underprivileged youngsters and migrants). Oana has been working with the Mental Disability Advocacy Centre in Budapest, Hungary and is currently a consultant on disability rights for the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade, Serbia. Oana has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Al. Ioan Cuza University in Iași, Romania, an LL.M. in Human Rights from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and an International Diploma in Mental Health and Human Rights from the Indian Law Society College in Pune, India.

Ms Alisa REKUNOVA

Alisa is a PhD student of Psychology in Tallinn University, Estonia. She has two Master’s degrees: in Psychology and Environmental Protection. She is also a writer. Her first book, Life among people, was awarded “The Manuscript of the year” prize in 2015. Alisa’s current research focuses on differences in developmental levels of thinking - the theory of heterogeneity of thinking. She works as a psychologist in a health center in Tallinn, Estonia.

Mr James CHAN WENG YAN

James is an Autism and Disability Advocate from Singapore. He holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. James was diagnosed with Autism in 2017, and joined the same year the Disabled People’s Association (DPA) an organisation that advocates with disabled people. He volunteers as an Inclusion Ambassador under DPA, engaging the public and various organisations with disability, sharing his life as an autistic person, and promoting the inclusion and acceptance of PwD. He also has experiences working on programmes that cater to adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

Adam is a full time Master student of Corporate Management and Economics at Brno University of Technology, Czech Republic. He currently works as an Account Manager in a small IT company and has recently co-founded the start-up Bikedoo. Bikedoo focuses on improving the lives of people with movement disabilities by creating and testing new products, including modules attachable to various types of active wheelchairs. This way PwD can transform their own wheelchairs into electric three-wheel motorcycles. The product is now being tested by disabled persons of all ages, and Adam hopes to shortly make Bikedoo globally available.

Ms Katarina ŠEME

Katarina graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design of Visual Communication. She spent three months in Indonesia as an Indonesian Arts and Culture scholar. After this, she interned as a leading designer for a software development company in Cyprus. She specializes in graphic design with a focus on universal design and is currently engaged in project work for various companies. Next to her studies and work, Katarina volunteered at a children’s rehabilitation center and at a homeless shelter.

Arturo studies Political Science at Complutense University of Madrid, and is currently doing an Erasmus+ exchange year at the University of Copenhagen. He focuses on the areas of economic development, globalization, social rights and public freedom. Arturo is an active participant of Model United Nations and Model European Union He has been volunteering in projects in Spain, aimed at rejecting racial discrimination, supporting freedom of expression and promoting rights to people at risk of poverty.

He is also engaged in the student union and is a student representative in the Board of Political Science and the Board of all Social Sciences at Lund University.

Further, he voluntarily advises SMEs and entrepreneurs from Uganda, Malawi and Rwanda.

Having completed a Master’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Vasan currently works as a Climate Change Programme and Operations Support Consultant at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangkok Regional Hub, providing support to all country offices within the APAC region. Vasan is particularly interested in biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, sustainable development and urban environment management. He is also a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) alumni, and a core member of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) Asian and Southeast Asian teams.

Áine works with the British Deaf Association as a researcher and policy adviser. Having participated in the UK state review under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), Áine is now working with governments to establish legal recognition of British and Irish Sign Languages in UK law. A graduate from Oxford University, Áine helped establish the Oxford Students’ Disability Community in 2014. The pioneering community and research group now reaches beyond the university in promoting inclusion of disabled students and disability research. In a research capacity she has specific interests in the UN CRPD, legal recognition of sign languages, assistive technologies, and d/ Deaf education.

Since high school, An has been working for many NGOs such as AIESEC Vietnam and YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative). Being a person with a hearing disability, he worked for his school’s Center for Students with Disabilities to assist peers with disabilities in their academics and to raise awareness of the importance of inclusive education among students. He has been invited to many international conferences such as YSEALI Summit and One Young World Environment Summit. Currently, An is working as an English and Computer Science teacher for companies in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is also doing research with TechElite on machine learning, namely recommendation systems and churn prediction, and their practical applications in solving social issues.

Zora Csalagovits is a trainer, facilitator, coach and freelance consultant in training. She also has experiences working as an educational advisor at the Council of Europe. Zora is the personal assistant of Ms Borbala IVICSICS at the ASEFSU21.

Latchana is a committee member of the Vocational Development for Blind Association. She further works as a masseur, and orientation & mobility (O&M) trainer. She is the personal assistant of Mr Aikeo KOOMANIVONG at the ASEFSU21.

Jennifer studied law at the University of Oxford, European studies at the Free University of Berlin, and East European studies at the University College London. Her PhD dissertation in anthropology at the Humboldt University of Berlin looks at relationships in and through state care in Hungary in the 1980s, using life histories and case files to explore kinship and how state practice influenced the functioning of families. Jennifer is the personal assistant of Zara Todd at the ASEFSU21.
