Time to finish our home: “Come Together” Campaign So far, 256 households have made Campaign gifts and pledges totaling $212,062. Thank you! We have collected $211,399 of the total pledged. We have decided to extend the Campaign in order to raise what we need for the new cross. Our plan is to have this installed in the Spring of 2016. Therefore, we invite you to discern what you might give, in order to put a cross on top of our church! The scriptures are filled with stories of God’s surprises cropping up when they are least expected: younger children obtaining the inheritance; the lowliest being seated highest up; an itinerant preacher, killed like a criminal, exalted to eternal, heavenly glory. Anybody who has planned a wedding or similar event knows that they are filled with opportunities for surprises. For the bridegroom in today’s Gospel story, who has no direct contact with Jesus, the pleasant surprise came because somebody else paid attention and had faith in Jesus. We may think that the point of today’s familiar story of the wedding at Cana is that when we have faith in Jesus, our lives will be pleasantly changed. A Christian, however, needs to have a broader perspective and realize that to have faith in Christ means that somebody’s life—not necessarily our own—will be surprised for the better. Copyright © J. Thank You Gary Gary Pleet has been our Maintenance Technician for the past 11 years since the church was built. He has decided to retire from this job. He has kept us warm in the winter and cool in the summer working nights (after his regular job) and weekends keeping everything in working order and keeping up with the endless regulations for an operation like ours. It will consist of 36” statues of St. Faustina and St. John Paul II along with a framed picture of Divine Mercy. To help with the funding of this area, the Knights will have a table in the gathering area for dona-tions. Also to assist in this endeavor, we'll have several fund-raisers including a breakfast on Sunday, January 31st here at St. Anne. For more info call GK Rich Mich at 262-818-0839. Shelter the Homeless: January 2016 Pope Francis has declared a Jubilee Year of Mercy to begin on December 8, 2015 and continue through November 20, 2016. Catholics throughout the archdiocese are invited to practice the Works of Mercy throughout the jubilee year. For January, we focus on the Work of Mercy: “Shelter the Homeless.” Take this Mercy Action: Donate to an agency serving the homeless, volunteer at a shelter and practice generous hospitality by inviting guests to your home. To learn more about “Sheltering the Homeless,” check out the Jubilee of Mercy Video Series with Fr. Ken Omernick by visiting www.archmil.org/yearofmercy. Videos are posted on the 1st of each month. St. Anne participates in the INNS (Interfaith Network Nightly Shelter) program right here in our own community. The INNS Ministry serves the homeless on the 1st and 2nd weekends of the month. Living Mercy Event: Concrete Ways to Heal a Wounded World Please join us on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Cardinal Stritch University Klieban Conference Center, 6801 N. Yates Road, Glendale for an engaging event on the Corporal Works of Mercy and how to live them in practical ways. Come either 8:00 am-Noon or 6:00-8:30 pm for a keynote by Kerry Weber, author of the book, Mercy in the City and a chance to network with 18 local agencies practicing the Corporal Works of Mercy. The morning session also includes two rounds of breakout sessions to explore how to “live mercy.” The extended morning session requires registration and a fee of $20.
