“Be Nourished With Hope” A One Day Women’s Retreat with

Genevieve Baudin and Peggy Hassett

The heart of this retreat finds its truest

expression in the simple act of our being

together – free to connect and reconnect

with one another, and with God, in deeper

and life-transforming ways.

Saturday, October 6th

9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

St. Dorothy Church

$15.00 for the entire day

TO REGISTER: Contact Tom Griffin

[email protected]

OR call the Parish Office

(978-658 4665)

WOMEN OF ALL AGES ARE INVITED

The day will include: a light breakfast, prayer

gathering, presentations, quiet reflection

time, faith sharing, a light lunch, the

opportunity for Reconciliation (3:15 PM) and

a Closing Liturgy at the 4:00 PM Mass.

Are you a seeker? Looking to connect with a

Catholic faith community? If you were baptized

into the Christian Community, or never baptized,

and feel called to be welcomed into the Catholic

Church, we have a process for you. It is NOT a

program of study, but a process to be lived out!

We don’t give individuals a bunch of books to read

to memorize facts, dates, key people, etc. We invite

people to come and worship with us on a regular

basis, meet parishioners, and discover the

richness and the formational experience of the

Mass.

The Mass shapes us and evangelizes her people,

as individuals and as faith communities. The

Church exists to evangelize people and nations –

JOIN US at Mass to be informed, formed and

transformed!

If you would like to explore initiation and

discipleship in the Catholic faith, or if you’d like

to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation as an

adult, contact Tom Griffin, Pastoral Associate, for

more information.

What’s YOUR

vocation in life?

We are all called to live

out our lives in a

variety of ways. For

some it is in the service

of the Church as

priest, deacon,

religious brother or sister, etc. Some are

called to a married life, the single life, etc.

To help us ALL discern our calling in life and

to promote the vocations of ALL the people of

God, we will begin Monthly Prayer Services for

Vocations – ALL vocations. Watch the bulletin

or the complete schedule in the coming

weeks.

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Wednesday, August 15th is a Holy Day of Obligation The Mass schedule for the Holy day

7pm, Tuesday evening, August 14th in St. Thomas 9am, Wednesday morning, August 15th in St. Dorothy

GIFT CARD COLLECTION

At all Masses on August 18th and 19th, the Charities Committee will be collecting gift cards (to anywhere and everywhere) to help families within our parish in need of assistance. The need for Back to School items for our families is especially great at this time. Monetary donations are also greatly accepted.

If you have gift cards at home that you would like to donate (no shame in re-gifting), we would love to have them!

If you would like to purchase a gift card to donate, we are most in need of gift cards to department stores, malls, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. Gift cards in any denomination are greatly appreciated.

If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, it can be given to the Charities Committee member collecting gift cards or dropped off at the Parish Office marked “Gift Cards”.

Thank you very much for helping us to help those in need!

Back to School Supplies Once again collecting school sup-

plies for the children in the Merri-

mack Valley. Items most in need:

notebooks, pencils, pens, folders,

scissors, crayons, glue, back-

packs, etc. Please place donation

in the boxes provided at the en-

trance of church. This drive is

sponsored by Catholic Charities

A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR

Fr. Anda is away until August 17, 2018. He is leading a

pilgrimage to Greece. As a result, on August 16th and 17th,

there will be a communion service in lieu of a daily Mass.

Also, there will be no priest available on those dates.

Every year each parish must participate in the Mission Co-

op program. We are assigned a missionary group who

sends a representative to tell you about their work and so-

licit your support. This year we were assigned the

LaSalette order. One of their priests will be speaking at all

the Masses this weekend and will seek your support.

I am pleased to share that the Parish of the Transfiguration

has raised $55,245.00 in gifts and pledges toward our 2018

Catholic Appeal goal of $54,157.00. Thank you to all who

have already gave a gift or made a pledge. If all pledges

are fulfilled, we will meet our assessment. Again, thanks

very much.

I have been telling you for weeks that Fr. Tully and I will

be running a 10-day trip to the Holy Land in October 2019.

It is over a year away. The cost is $3,699.00 per person. I

am happy to say that the brochures have arrived and are

available at the front door of the churches. Some people

may be wondering about safety. Traveling to the Holy

Land is safe. I know many priests who have recently led

pilgrimages to the Holy Land without any issues. When I

went in 1975, I stayed in the Arab section of Jerusalem.

The Arab people were wonderful. I felt very safe. Today

travel to the Holy Land is booming. If it was unsafe to go,

travel there would not be booming. Once you go, the scrip-

tures will seem so alive because you have seen the sites

described or referred to in the scriptures. Think about it.

There are brochures at the front door of both churches.

Well I guess that is it for now. Until next time, take

care.

Fr. Earley

THANK YOU

On behalf of Merrimack Valley Catholic Char-

ities (MVCC), we would like to thank the

Charities Committee for the Parish of the

Transfiguration for their recent donation of toi-

letries. Our Clients were truly grateful to re-

ceive these personal care items.
