Papertown was founded as a company in June 2012 at the perfect time with the perfect group of people. Since then, we’ve been on a mission to change the perception of a material seen solely as packaging for other goods.

And in that way, change the perception of quality itself.

Working with us will offer you a glimpse into the future of design.

What do you imagine when you think of cardboard? We think of stories, possibilities, architectural landscapes, art and poetry, sustainability and change. And greatness.

We understand that some moments should be made memorable.

This is why we work to transform conventional spaces into platforms telling a story. Even though the setting is temporary, the poetic feeling remains in the memory.

We are an invention machine, working professionally on taking cardboard design further than anyone else.

You tell us the story. We imagine it. And we do it.

Endless ways of designAmong the prime specialities of cardboard is its readiness to be folded, bent and clamped. The resulting possibilities are not shared by any other material in this form. In addition it can be painted, pasted up and acts as a perfect projection screen - a platform of interaction and individuality.

Cost and time efficientWhen it comes to costs, cardboard is hard to beat. Easy processing saves time and money during production. It is efficiently stored as plain boards. This saves space and additional costs during transport and storage. Its lightness makes it easy to assemble and take down.

Quick reactionCut it, bolt it, glue it, paint it, assemble it, move it. Light and easy to shape, cardboard can meet all these needs very quickly. This is particularly relevant in the trade fair, event and stage sector. Spontaneous changes are easily responded to.

SustainabilityClosed sewage cycles, biological clarification plants, power-saving technologies, chemical recovery and various other measures allow for Austrian corrugated base paper to be produced with a minimum of environmental impact. Cardboard can be recycled up to seven times. All process waste that emerges from production or packaging are reintroduced to the recycling process.

The design seeks to accentuate the trademark of the CAT as a high-speed, high-quality service linking the city with the airport: rather than building a simple reproduction of the actual train, we sculpted a spaceship out of cardboard: a futuristic plane on rails. The sculpture combines modular elements with tailor-made features that highlight the corporate identity of the CAT. The projection of green lights onto the clean, white cardboard gives the impression of velocity and innovation according to the corporate design of the company.

The design seeks to reference the innovative, entrepreneurial spirit of the Pioneers event, whilst effectively contrasting with the imperial decor of the Hofburg palace. The classic theatre setting focuses attention on the main actors - the presenters and discussants on stage. The use of paper cubes give a constructive feeling, supporting the stories of entrepreneurship that stand at the center of the event. The event sponsors are built into the sculptures, rather than displayed on external showcases, to convey the message that their contribution is integral to the event. The design elements are accentuated through light installations that effectively enhance the main messages and focal points.

PERSPEKTIVE PUBLIKUM

The tree sculptures reference the origin of recyclable material and reflect the idea of sustaina-bility and environmental concern, the values of the company. The image of an imposing forest, made out of gigantic realistic-shaped plants, realizes the vision of a re-connection with nature. The enormity of the sculptures, and their positioning on stage, reflect the ideas of vitality, energy and life. The sculptures, assembled on mobile carriages, can be easily moved around on stage to bring about a different setting. The elegant light effects create a celebratory feeling to mark the occasion.

A stage design to mark the 20th anniversary of AWS, a recycling company. The stage, set up in a big event hall, should have a big visual impact in every sense.

the STAR WARS SKETCH

YOU BUILT A NEW WORLD INSIDE THE TRADE FAIR !

Page 11: Papertown Catalogue 2014 Edition10

The booth design evokes the images of tracks, trains and communication in order to reflect the identity of the client QNAMIC, a company managing transportation networks.

The different sculpture elements comprised the stylized movement of a trail along a column; a twisted bullet train that combined futuristic forms with traditional elements - and a satellite dominating the open space above.

The booth created a compact microcosmos that reflected the brand of the company and invited visitors to step into a light, constructive world of technology.

Creating an artistic interpretation of the company’s core values.

Cardboard, as a material to manifest the lightness of ideas turning reality, should also be used a basis for a 3D - guest-book to collect autographs and sketches from visitors.

The booth design set out to be highly visible and recognizable, and to stand out amongst others displayed in the fair. We monopolized the zone by creating a cave-like structure with a high, overhanging façade. The individual elements were towering over people’s head and thus dominated the exhibition room. The exploration of the vertical dimension allowed us to make efficient use of available space. The design evoked the ideas of technology and innovation, and the Skolkovo brand was referenced through the projection of green lights emanating from the sculpture elements. The combination of these effects and design elements produced the feeling of modern luxury and freshness and caught the eye from all corners of the room.

The event was to be their gateway to the Western European market and leave a mark in the memory of the participants.

we designed 6 large spikes which could be seen from every corner of the auditory. 6 separate items which were turned into dancing sculptures and moved around to generate dynamics during the show. Each move redefined the space and supported the message of the music, as if the stage had come to life to feel the music and enjoy. Multiple context were created as the cardboard turned into a supportive master of ceremony.

A stage design which could interact with the music performed.
