FAQs.Are they compostable and biodegradable?Yes. EnviroStraws™ Paper Straws are made with environmentally-safe materials and will naturally decompose in a commercial or home composting environment. They are the perfect alternative to plastic straws.

Are they recyclable?Yes. EnviroStraws™ are recyclable throughout Australia and New Zealand. Composting provides a viable alternative for disposal.

Can I use them for hot beverages?EnviroStraws™ are designed only for cold or chilled drinks. If used in hot beverages, they will disintegrate faster and decrease their longevity. It is not recommended that people drink hot beverages through a straw, due to the risk of burning your mouth.

Can I use paper straws with straw slotted lids?

While EnviroStraws™ are among the most durable in the market, they will last longer if paired with a dome lid.

How long does a paper straw last?

Paper straws are designed to break down much faster than plastic, which can last hundreds or thousands of years. For this reason, a paper straw does not have the same impenetrable barrier to liquid and moisture like a plastic straw. Our straws are made from high quality 3-ply premium paper, and are designed to last for the time it takes for you to finish a drink. If you squeeze, or play with your straw, then yes, it will break apart. If in doubt, try it out!

Are they food safe?

Yes. EnviroStraws™ are made with food safe paper, glue, and water-based inks that do not contain any harmful chemicals.

Do the have any known allergens?No. EnviroStraws™ have not been found to have any known allergens. The individually wrapped straws are used in various hospitals to ensure superior patient safety and hygiene.

Is custom printing available?

Yes. Castaway® paper straws can be custom printed with your very own unique logo or design. Contact us for more information.
