Micheal Scherer uses the real life experience and interactions with Trump in order to

identify his tactics and political values. Some of the major evidence within the article are in the

Scherer recollection of a Trump rally and of an interview he had with Trump as a perspective

Time's man of the year candidate. Scherer is in this article is supposed to explain the aspects of

Trumps rise but primarily the reasoning for his consideration of the Time's man of the year

award. However, much of the article is using author bias presenting Trump as an unlikely

presidential candidate and an unlikely man of the year candidate.

“Three Theories of Donald Trump Rise” is suggesting that there are three possibilities

for the rise of Trump within the 2016 presidential race. Silvers suggest that Trumps rise comes

due to a political revolt in American citizens, a nationwide transition into republican ideals, or

that his major popularity comes from the media bubble constantly surrounding him. By limiting

the possibilities and only looking at it from a select point of views, Silvers is restricting other

possible reasons for Trumps success. This article is attempting to uncover the primary reason for

Trumps success within the presidential race. By doing this, they are attempting to convey to the

readers that there is a false security within Trumps success thus causing complacent and

uninformed voting by the American population.

"Republican Presidential Field: The Known And The Unknown." Rhodes Cook Letter 12.2

(2011): 11-13. Academic Search Complete. Web. 29 Feb. 2016.

This article discusses the GOP presidential field of the 2011 election. “Republican

Presidential Field: The Known and The Unknown” shows the same increase that has been

reflected in the 2016 GOP presidential race with Donald Trumps voters. The article shows

Donald Trumps increase from 1 percent to 16 percent of the vote within the matter of one month.

The obscure thing about this is that Trump never officially declared himself for president in the

2012 election. This leads to the idea that Trump strategically chooses 2016 to run for the

presidency because of the increasingly extreme beliefs and distrust of Americans of political

leaders, including Barack Obama.

"Secular Immortality and The American Ideology Of Affluence” gives the foundation for

Trumps behavior within the private sector. The article discusses the successes and the wealth that

Trump has accumulated over his time in business. Hirschman focuses on the entitled and the rich

within the article discusses the secular benefits of wealth and business. Not only does she

mention Trump in this article but talks about other large economic players such as Forbes. This

source allows me to get in-depth insight into Trump and the people that were like him.

Dochuk, Darren. "The Fissuring Of The Republican Party." New Labor Forum (Sage

Publications Inc.) 25.1 (2016): 26-33. Academic Search Complete. Web. 29 Feb. 2016.

“The Fissuring Of The Republican Party” presents the Republican party as self-

destructing. It describes Trump increasing to the top of the polls as the ‘Trump phenomenon’.

The article suggests that the cause of this is that the Republican party is lacking in philosophical

depth. This is causing an uproar within the political party and their lack of control of the political

candidates and their voters. It quotes Daniel Rodgers who says that All Americans have lost the

capacity to conceptualize. Overall, this academic journal provides a synopsis of the fall of the

Republican party.
