The candidate demonstrated a thorough understanding of the demands of the question. He/She identified and clearly described the trends in agriculture in Hong Kong. Data interpretation and generalisation skills were also well-exhibited in the clear explanation of

two factors influencing the current development of agriculture in Hong Kong, i.e. “the attitude of farmers towards agriculture” and “the awareness of the concepts of land conservation and green living”.

The candidate conjured up a logical explanation of how the sources support the claim, exemplifying a high level of data analysis.

As a whole, the answer was well-structured. However, in Part (c), more reference could have been made to Sources A and B.

The candidate made appropriate and full use of Source A.

He/She clearly and precisely described Hong Kong’s performance in both democracy and global

competitiveness.

He/She clearly pointed out the three types of relationships with appropriate use of data in Source B and

was able to draw a conclusion.

He/She provided a detailed explanation of the relationship between representativeness and the global

competitiveness of Hong Kong.

He/She used appropriate concepts to justify the arguments, which shows a high level of critical analysis.

The candidate fully fulfilled the requirements of the question.

He/She identified and clearly described the pattern of HIV infection by deploying the figures in the

source appropriately.

He/She drew appropriately and comprehensively on the sources to provide a logical explanation of two

difficulties in tackling HIV as a global problem (difficulties related to funding and low awareness of

diseases), exhibiting a thorough understanding and an appropriate application of the relevant knowledge

and concepts.

The well-structured, clear and in-depth elaboration exemplified the thinking and organisation skills of a

Level-5 performance.

The stakeholders and their respective values were appropriately paired in Part (a).

Conflicts between the stakeholders were clearly pointed out by the candidate with ample elaborations.

The candidate showed a very good sense of the current situation of China, with concrete descriptions and

data. For example, in Part (a), the script contained details about the current situation and data about

China.

The candidate was able to discuss the question from the economic, social and political standpoints,

showing multiple-perspective thinking.

The candidate attempted to discuss in greater depth the long-term development of China, though he/she

sometimes over-generalised, for instance the counter-argument on environmental development which

sounded more like family issues than issues related to the long-term development of China.

The answer was an example of a comprehensive response to the demands of the question.

The candidate was able to conceptualise the factors from different perspectives, such as industrialisation

and the influx of foreign culture.

He/She provided an in-depth elaboration on how the factors lead to the decline of the local traditional

businesses, exhibiting a high level of analytical skills.

He/She was able to present his/her stance clearly, explain clearly and in great detail all the arguments and

formulate a cogent rebuttal. The arguments were well-reasoned with highly relevant examples of local

traditional businesses, fully demonstrating his/her argumentation skill and thorough understanding of the

issue.

This answer displayed an ability to think from multiple perspectives (e.g. in Part (b); justifications were

made with regard to the historical value of local traditional business and the competitiveness of Hong

Kong.

The candidate was able to adopt relevant and multiple perspectives such as technological advancement

and cultural integration in his/her analysis.

The answer showed an in-depth explanation of how electronic social media enhance global participation

in charitable activities.

The conceptual analysis of the impact of globalization on raising global charity activities was substantial.

Though more examples should have been provided, in view of the breadth and depth of the analysis, the

answer still deserved a full mark in Part (a).

The features and functions of social media in enhancing socio-political participation were well explained

in Part (b).

The application of concepts was demonstrated in the analysis from different aspects, though the depth of

conceptualisation was not enough.

Various examples were used in explaining the effectiveness of electronic social media, but some of them

seemed not very closely related, or more explanation was needed, such as the information about food and

medicine location.

The answer in Part (b), however, lacked a higher level of evaluation, such as the deployment of some

evaluative criteria.
