Because our in-house manufacturing processes encompass everything from the chassis and panels to assembly, fit-out and final paint, we are uniquely placed to offer a truly customised range of refrigerated vehicles. From the largest double-deck trailer on the road in the UK to the smallest delivery van, we have designed and built a vast array of temperature-controlled vehicles for many household name fleets.

GOING GREENOver recent years the Paneltex design team has put its mind to environmental concerns. This has led to the development of our own range of battery electric van chassis based on the rugged Isuzu chassis. Assembled in a dedicated facility in Hull, the new electric vehicles combine a brushless permanent magnet electric drive train with the latest lithium ion phosphate battery technology. Offering rapid charge capability and a great driving experience, these vehicles cost pence per mile for fuel with zero emissions on the road – the perfect urban delivery solution.

ATP type approval is available from the smallest to the largest panel van and innovative design features ensure the finished vehicle is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. A particular feature of Somers’ high roof vans is the unique patented Direct Air system, which improves refrigeration performance by up to 15%, giving reduced fuel consumption. Options available include the Superfreeze rear door mouldings and the Somers’ patented double-hinged Foldback side load door for Mercedes Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter, Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer, giving customers the chance to exceed by 25% the

current ATP class C requirement. This not only provides our customers with a highly efficient temperature controlled vehicle, but also allows them legally to distribute food products across the whole of the EU.

Another unique feature of a Paneltex Somers conversion is our Flexi-Temp bulkhead system. This two part, moveable, removeable solid bulkhead complete with double freezer grade seals, (in conjunction with a suitable refrigeration unit) allows a ground breaking, independently verified, temperature differential of 50ºC between compartments.

REFRIGERATED PANEL VANS

Somers works closely with all major van manufacturers to ensure that conversions do not affect the use, maintenance or warranty of the base vehicle. Many of them offer Somers’ conversions through their own dealership networks.

All conversions are made in our dedicated factory near Norwich, but Somers offers sales and repair facilities through Paneltex locations in Hull and Andover, together with dealer support and on-site service. The best refrigerated vans available bar none – we think so!

WIDESPAN - FOR GREATER CAPACITYTo meet the demand for even higher storage capacity than can be provided with the standard range of portable cold storage units, the widespan system has been introduced to both the UK and European markets. This system allows specially designed and constructed modules to be linked to provide an infinitely variable structure, capable of operating at chilled, frozen or ambient temperatures. These complexes can be used not only for storage purposes, but also for use as production areas, meeting all current regulations for food hygiene and temperature regulations.

Many types of dry goods body are produced alongside Paneltex refrigerated rigid vehicles, both in standard form and for more specialised applications. Robust designs and top quality fittings are the result of many years’ experience making TransLoad products the first choice for many rental and blue chip customers.

Its proximity to Heathrow airport makes TransLoad a natural choice for the supply and service of a variety of airport goods carriers, and in particular for the more demanding airside specifications for which the Company is renowned. The Aero Luton by Paneltex Transload offers a robust, lightweight vehicle built with quality in mind. Paneltex Transload offer a full range of Luton bodies designed to fit most van derived chassis cabs, including our fully European whole vehicle type approved (ECWVTA) Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Crafter.

With many architectural accessories sold from stock, APC offers next-day delivery on many items which can be ordered from the on-line shop.

Based in Hull, the team here has electronic access to the manufacturing records and can identify faulty parts quickly and efficiently. These parts can then be dispatched promptly, normally within 24 hours, to minimise delays in getting the product back into service.
