simulation statusOverviewOverview
• New Framework why status schedule
• Simulation subdetector Forward spectrometer EMC (TS)
• Status PID
• Benchmark channel Status
PANDA collaboration meeting 2.-4. June 2004
simulation statusNew FrameworkNew Framework
• not enough manpower for development
• switch to well proved framework only few on the market
• decision: BaBar framework • experiences in PANDA collaboration
• request to BaBar computing management O.k but with Copyright
PANDA collaboration meeting 2.-4. June 2004
simulation statusNew FrameworkNew Framework
• object-oriented
• environment: Compilation time for develpment shorter
• digitization, event-mixing, detector response
• reconstruction: vertexing , tracking, PID
• analysis: many fit routines available

Status
• PANDA source code in new environment embedded (done)
• implementation in CVS (done)
• removal of database (30% done)
• implementation of detector geometry in Bogus removal of BaBar geometry: dummy version (done) implementation of PANDA geometry (to do)
• modification of reconstruction & analysis (to do)

Time schedule
• idea: study of benchmark channels for TR in new framework
• deadline event production: Second week of August
• implementation has to be finished until beginning of August
PANDA collaboration meeting 2.-4. June 2004
simulation statusDetector development: FSDetector development: FS
• simulation and reconstruction of EMC (FS) is working
• idealized setup: appr. 11000 PWO crystals
• implementation of more realistic setup has to be done lead glass calorimeter?
(talk in subgroup meeting: Piotr Hawranek)
PANDA collaboration meeting 2.-4. June 2004
simulation statusDetector development: FSDetector development: FS
• new idea: Forward dipol (HERMES) iron plate shields the beam from the dipol field
• advantage: no dipol behind FS
• disadvantage: no acceptance between 0°-1°
• first calculations: magnetic field: 1T beam region: 100 mT
HERMES: Side view of dipol with shielding

events8
• gamma-efficiency vs. space between crystals• default value: 2.0 mm• space variation: 2.0mm-0.3mm• 2000 events simulated:
• eff. increases dramaticaly by reducing the space• target point geometry• modification: point of intersection app. 2cm backward

simulation statusReconstruction: PIDReconstruction: PID
• PID problem with DIRC and RICH
• different efficiency for positive and negative particles
• reco with old tracker interface
• modified reconstruction: PID works properly
