STEWARDSHIP CORNER

In the prelude to today’s great Passion Narrative, Saint Paul reminds us that we find our hope in the “emptiness” and “humility” of Christ Jesus; a life that led to the cross, but through the cross, to glory and exaltation. The way is not easy. Good stewards know that it requires a willingness to lay aside all rights of personal privilege; emptying ourselves in the service of others; embracing values different from the values of the world. It requires an understanding that to be “in Christ” means to be a servant because Christ came into the world, not as Lord but as servant. What crosses are we willing to carry? What worldly values are we willing to forego in order to share Christ’s glory?

RESPECT LIFE The U.S. Senate recently failed to pass the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act — legislation that prohibits infanticide by ensuring that a child born alive following an attempted abortion would receive the same degree of care to preserve her or his life and health as would be given to any other child born alive at the same gestational age. Please join us in prayer for an end to infanticide: “Jesus, Lord of Life, transform the hearts of all elected leaders to recognize that infanticide is wrong and must not be tolerated. Open hearts and minds to recognize and defend the precious gift of every human life.”

We ask parishioners to review the prayer list regularly and inform the Office if there is a name that can be removed. We will periodically refresh the list by removing all the names. If your loved one is still in need of prayers, make sure to call the Office at (904) 777-3168 so that they may remain on the list.

DIOCESAN NEWS AND EVENTS

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

DID YOU KNOW? The Church refers to the presence of Christ in the Eucharist as “real” not to ex-clude other types of presences of the Lord (Word, minister, people), but rather it is a presence in the fullest sense. Christ, both God and man, is wholly and entirely present. (CCC #1374)

Lighthouse CD Rack 7 Secrets of Confession In this inspiring presentation, popular speaker Vinny Flynn explores the “hidden” truths of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, presenting what to many will be a whole new way of approaching Confession, inviting you to begin an exciting personal journey to healing and holiness. If you do not yet look forward to Confession in the same way you look forward to Communion, this will change your life.
