Since 1990, more than 85,500 AVID students have graduated from high school and planned to attend college.

Over 30 years, AVID has become one of the most successful college-preparatory programs for underserved students, and today reaches more than 400,000 students in approximately 4,500 schools in 47 states and 16 other countries/territories.

What is the AVID elective?

• The core component of the AVID Program grades 9-12

• Supports students as they challenge themselves in more rigorous classes.

• Students are immersed in a college-minded culture.

• Access to tutors, who are top high school seniors and college students

• Access to information about colleges and universities

• field trips, guest speakers, career exploration, scholarship opportunities, and college admission requirement information.

• a remedial program • a study hall• an alternative program• a quick fix

Why AVID?High School Teachers estimate that:

•63% of their graduating seniors will be adequately prepared for college-level coursework •51% will graduate from college (MetLife, 2011).•Data shows that only 25% of high school graduates who took the ACT test were ready for college-level work (ACT, 2012).
