PageScope Authentication Manager

Page 2: Pagescope authentication manager datasheet v2

One major challenge that all companies face sooner or later is to safeguard documents as well as company-internal data and information. Consequently, output devices must be reliably blocked against unauthorised access, requiring users to authenticate at the MFP via PIN, ID card, biometric access feature or username and password before they can print, copy, scan or fax their documents. As one of the modules of the PageScope Enterprise Suite, the Authentication Manager is dedicated to comprehensive print access and user rights control making MFP access reliably secure.

MONITORING & CONTROLLINGUSER ACCESS AND PERMISSIONS

Especially enterprises with shared printers and multifunc-tional output devices have a particular need for central user, access and cost management. Handled by the IT or print administrator, the PageScope Authentication Manager provides a reliable means to control the scope and scale of access to devices as well as the appropriate authentication mechanisms. This functionality can easily be enhanced with the PageScope Account-, My Print-, My Panel Manager and rule-based printing for enhanced and best workflow performance.

Facilitating the central setup of authentication modes and control of user rights on all multifunctional devices

(MFPs), the Authentication Manager enhances administrator efficiency, saving valuable manpower and time and increasing the overall transparency of the corporate printing infrastructure. Document output costs can be reduced, in particular by setting appropriate user and device access rights. The flexible integration of authentication systems or the biometric authentication mean reduced administrative effort and faster login for users.

With its support for a few to as many as several thousand users, the Authentication Manager is a scalable and affordable solution that streamlines central user and role management in small to large enterprises.

MONITORING & CONTROLLINGUSER ACCESS AND PERMISSIONS

KEY FEATURES Central user and role management

– Central database: All users with access to output

devices for copying, printing and scanning are con-veniently and centrally managed in the Authentication Manager’s database.

– Synchronisation with existing user directories: This relieves the administrator of having to create and manage users in different systems. As directories, Windows Server Active Directory, LDAP and Novell Directory Services are supported.

– Permission templates and user roles: These are easy to create and facilitate the convenient management of different device access levels. The IT administrator defines the different user roles once (such as managerial groups, employees, employees with extra permissions, temporary staff, etc.) and can then apply these permis-sions as appropriate to individual users and groups.

– High granularity: Device access permissions can be defined with high granularity. Function permission templates include user rights such as copying, printing, scanning or faxing, colour access (separately for all functions), document storing on the MFP hard disks, embedded browser access as well as printing from USB storage.

– Centralised management of authentication types: Whether card authentication, user credentials or con-venient PIN authentication is preferred, the administrator can centrally define which type of user authentication should enable access to which output device.

– Optional support for biometric authentication: This authentication feature offers the highest level of security and confidentiality for printing. All biometric data is encrypted and centrally secured in the database for biometric authentication.

– Security Group Import: A function to import the Active Directory security groups.

– Alias names: Up to 3 alias names can be linked to Active Directory user names to support print environ-ments such as SAP where different user names are common.

– Near field communication (NFC) authentication (option): NFC authentication function is supported using an NFC card reader.
