    I am requesting funding for Advanced Battery Manufacturing in fiscal year 2010. The entity toreceive funding for this project is the Office ofEconomic Development, City ofDanville, VA,located at 427 Patton Street, Danville, VA 24541. The funding would be used to enable Danvilleto proceed with the development of a manufacturing facility to produce advanced batterytechnology for hybrid buses. There is a pending contract for more than 750 buses nationwide tobe equipped with these batteries, which are currently not being manufactured in the U.S. The netimpact on employment in the 5th District is estimated conservatively at an additional 150 jobs.
