Total Data Integration. One of the biggest advantages possessed ETAP, is that it incorporates parameters in asingle database, that is, if a line is modeled, this not only possess electrical parametersbut also mechanical parameters and routing, the program incorporates in a singledatabase that can be used for new projects without the need to create a new database

as the model to create.Simplicity in Data Entry.ETAP incorporates and maintains a detailed database for each device or elementmodeling. The database can also speed up data entry editors incorporating parametersthat must be configured to perform logically different types of analyzes or designs.ETAP line diagrams are compatible with a wide range of possibilities to configureschemes of varying complexity, such as orientation, size of symbols according to ANSIor IEC standards. This feature makes ETAP allows the user to easily cope withoutmajor complications in making a line diagram that incorporates different elements.13Figure I.2: Sample selection guidance.

ETAP offers a variety of options for displaying an electrical system, such views arecalled "presentations". The location, size, orientation, and symbol of each element canbe shown differently on each presentation, allowing the possibility of identifying anyelement of the system as "visible" or "hidden" (invisible), depending on need of aparticular presentation, this allows the user to select, as s shown in Figure I.2.One of the greatest tools that ETAP has, is the ability to create a composite within acomposite network to an arbitrary depth, maintaining a consistent visual order with thedesigned system network. This feature makes it possible to design complex electricalsystems in accordance to the simplicity of access to a particular network through the"mouse".I.2. Technical Specifications Software ETAPI.2.1. Salient features of ETAP. Five levels of automatic error checking. Line dynamic help and error messages. Message log in to control access to and management of the program.

14 ODBS "Open Data Base Connectivity". Database free to use.Integra Systems 1st, 3rd and DC networks. Integra line diagrams and underground pipeline. Integra line diagrams in the module and selectivity of protection coordination. Common database for all study modules. Simplicity in data entry. user-controlled operations and autosave. Typical data for motors, generators, exciters, transformers, etc. No limit measurement and protection from branches and loads. Load connections unlimited for a single bar.

Any system frequency. English and metric system units. Demand for global and individual load and diversity factors.
