SJ47-2tb I can bet that aſter reading that title you are expecting to read about all the glory of what Woonsocket has to offer during the annual Water Festival that is held in conjunction with the Fourth of July holiday every year, but you wouldn’t be com- pletely right. It was a great cel- ebration, once again, in Woon- socket, but that’s not what I am going to remember the most about this year’s Fourth of July because I had to miss half of it, due to a terrible mishap (at least that’s what I am calling it) that occurred on the morning of the Fourth. My daughter Erica and I had come to town around 9:30 a.m. to help my employers, Rod and Tara Weber, prepare for the pa- rade. ey had plans to hand out and throw out a few things to promote our businesses, and to sell T-shirts specially made for the occasion this year, and so forth. Once we got to the We- bers’ home, and everyone was getting prepared, I decided to run to the news office and get my camera. I was just about to my pick up when I slipped in the mud and my right leg just kept going and the rest of my body didn’t. My entire back of my leg went numb and I fell to the ground in agonizing pain. I was laying in the mud, in a new white T-shirt that I had just been provided by my employer, and I realized I was not going to be able to get up by myself. Luckily, just before I fell, I saw my good friend, Jodi Doering, who just happens to also be a good nurse, across the street, so I started hollering for her to help me. en I just started yelling for anyone to help me. Jodi and Tara came running, and they recruited the help of Will Got- tlob to get me up into a chair. I can honestly say, even with two C-sections and a hysterectomy, that was the worst physical pain I have ever experienced. Tara had suggested that they call the ambulance, but fortunately Jodi reminded her that, Jodi is part of the ambulance, so we should possibly assess the situation first. ey called my husband, Jeff, and he came to get me. He brought our son, Blake into town and leſt him to help with the parade while Jeff and I went to the emergency room in Mitchell. ey were awesome there and helped us to deter- mine that I had severely pulled my hamstring and calf muscles, and that I was going to have to rest my leg for at least the next couple of days. ey did give me some muscle relaxants, so I did muster up enough strength to go to the volleyball tournament Office phone - $47.00, Internet - $66.62, Lift station phone - $44.40, W/H Phone - $41.61, Sanborn Weekly Journal - $118.90 - advertis- ing, Quill - $142.63 - community cen- ter cleaning supplies, Miedema San- itation - $827.95 - garbage removal, Menards - $443.92 - Supplies Rossy Park, Department of Health - $76.00 - Water Samples, Menards - $19.90 -Grounds Supplies, Bechen Fencing - $1,833.76 - Fixed Fence at Com- munity Center park, NorthWestern Energy - $1,292.03 - Community Center - $173.50, Ballpark-$45.24, Water Valve - $12.34, Lift station - $377.20, Street Lights - $479.65, Lagoon - $107.39, Rossy Park - $25.48, Water Plant - $71.23, Quill - $125.04 - Supplies, Department of Environment and Natural Resourc- es - $60.00 - Water Dues, Angela Larson - $426.29 - wages custo- dian, Gregory Knutson - $584.22 - Summer help wages, Jim Fridley - $184.70 - Water Superintendent Wages, Michael Hoffman - $101.58 - wages, Benders - $478.00 - Sewer Repairs/Maintenance. SJ47-1tb Howard’s Highlights By Carrie Howard A Fourth of July to remember for a couple hours, but aſter that I spent the rest of my Fourth of July, and fiſth of July, pretty much in a recliner with my leg elevated and a heating pad un- der it, while rotating between ibuprofen and Tylenol every four hours. I could finally move it well enough to attend the bean bag tournament and the street dance, but since I couldn’t dance, it just wasn’t the same for me. I am slowly on the mend, but still in pain, which I have been told will last quite a while. I am hoping to get into some physical therapy so I will be able to walk better when we travel to New York at the end of the month. Don’t worry, I’m not missing that trip, regardless of how my leg feels. I will figure something out. And, thank goodness, I can sit at my desk to do most of the work needed to put the paper together. I owe a huge thank you to everyone who helped out by getting me pictures of all the events that took place over the holiday weekend. ank you so much for understanding that I couldn’t be everywhere. I could barely make it anywhere. Hats off to the Water Festival Committee and the Woonsock- et Firemen. From what I have heard and what I was able to be a part of, you outdid yourselves again.
