Lynn Busby Executive Director Mr. Calvin Mayhall, 84, a resident of Fulton, Ky., died August 5, 2014 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Born July 28, 1930, he was the son of the late Daniel L. and Daisy Mae Rudd Mayhall. He was a member of the South Fulton Baptist Church and was a self-employed backhoe operator and farmer. He lived in this area all of his life. Survivors include one daughter, Vickie (Billy) Owens of Dukedom, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Wendy (Paul) Puckett of Dukedom, and Scott W. (Amy) Owens of Camden, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Austin Puckett and Kaelyn Puckett, both of Dukedom, and Sophia Pearl Owens of Camden. His wife, Mildred Louise Bryant Mayhall; two brothers, Martin Mayhall and Albert Mayhall; and one sister, Mildred Pierce; preceded him in death. Funeral services were held August 8 at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel. Burial followed in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. He also enjoys business, looking up the daily stock figures and seeing what the latest business headlines are interests Batts. “The curriculum we have at the ATC is very similar to what theses high school students will find when they enter college life,” explained Batts. “Helping someone purchase a home with a mortgage, taking out a commercial loan, managing staff and marketing a bank branch are things I know about and I can share this valuable knowledge with our students. It will provide them with a different aspect as we prepare them to become college and career ready.” The classes Batts is teaching at the ATC include: Business Management, Accounting, Workplace Principles, Senior Focus and Digital Literacy. Before entering the workforce in banking Batts obtained his degree in BusinessAdministration at Murray State University in 2008. Peggy Ann Gilbert, 79, a resident of Fulton, Ky., died August 8, 2014, at her home. Born November 2, 1934 in Fulton County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Eggbert A. and Pearl Bynum Phipps. She was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church and was the co- owner of the former Gilbert’s Supermarket in Fulton. She had lived in this area most of her life. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Gilbert of Fulton, who she married September 12, 1951; two daughters, Jimette Davis of South Fulton, Tenn. and Julie Wiggins (Jimmy) of Fulton; one son, Jeff Gilbert (Geri) of Fulton; six grandchildren, Eric Hendrix of South Fulton, Kristi Hendrix of Union City, Tenn., Justin Wiggins of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Jade Wiggins of Fulton, Jentri Nelson of Jackson, Tenn., and Torri Gilbert of Fulton; and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Graveside services were held August 9, at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens with Paul Adams and Mike Lynch officiating. Hornbeak Funeral Chapel of Fulton was in charge of arrangements. The Fiscal Court is slated to reconvene in regular session on Monday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. New ATC Teacher from page 1 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Public Service Commission of Kentucky issued an order on August 7, 2014, scheduling a hearing to begin on September 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Daylight Time, in Hearing Room 1 of the Commission’s offices located at 211 Sower Boulevard in Frankfort, Kentucky, and continuing until completed, for the purpose of cross-examining witnesses in Case No. 2014-00003, which is the Joint Application of Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company for Review, Modification, and Continuation of Existing, and Addition of New, Demand-Side Management and Energy Efficiency Programs. Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company 220 West Main Street Louisville, Kentucky 40202 While the Fulton County Sher- iff’s Office (FCSO) executed a search warrant on Saturday, Aug. 9, on a residence located on Hwy 239 for possible drug activity and two wanted fugitives with felony charges. According to the press release, “Once entrance was made into the residence and secured no il- legal drug activity was found. Neither of the two fugitives were located. During the investigation information was obtained that the two subjects had been seen walk- ing south towards the Kentucky/ Tennessee state line. Deputies went to the area and were able to detain one of the subjects. The second subject fled into a bean and cornfield. A K-9 Unit from the Mayfield Police Department (PD) was brought to the scene to track the subject. After a period of time the subject came out and surrendered to authorities. The first subject that was de- tained was released at the scene due to the fact that the State of Arkansas that had an active war- rant would not extradite from Kentucky. A female, Kimberly S. Fon- tano, Hardin, Ky., at the resi- dence when entrance was made was arrested after it was learned that she had texted the subjects and made them aware authorities were looking for them. She was charged with Hindering Prosecu- tion or Apprehension, 2nd De- gree. Arrested were Robert Forrest- er a white male from Fulton, KY; he was charged with Parole Vio- lation for Felony Offenses from the KY and Fleeing and Evading Police On Foot, 1st Degree. Both subjects were transported to the Fulton County Detention Center. The FCSO was assisted by the Mayfield PD & K-9 (Brent Farm- er), Constable Doug Bradley, the Fulton County Dispatch Center, and Fulton Police Department. Candidates for the office of Magistrate in District 2 include incumbent George A. Jones (Democrat), Daniel Zickefoose (Republican) and write in candi- date Jordan O’Neal. Two candidates are running for the office of Fulton County Jailer. Charlotte Smith Editor Focus during the last month for the Hickman Police Department has been enforcing the blighted property ordinance and making sure all businesses are up to date with their occupational licens- es. “There are a few businesses left that are not in compliance,” Hickman Police Chief Tony Gro- gan stated on Monday night dur- ing the Commission meeting. “We need to take it as far as the law allows,” added Hickman Mayor David Lattus. Mayor Lat- tus also asked Chief Grogan to focus on city stickers, as well. City stickers were due May 1. The cost was $10, but now it is $17.50. Growing up in Hickman County Batts enjoys golfing, hunting and fishing. “I enjoy all the outdoor types of activities,” he added. He also enjoys business, looking up the daily stock figures and seeing what the latest business headlines are interests Batts.

“The curriculum we have at the ATC is very similar to what theses high school students will find when they enter college life,” explained Batts. “Helping someone purchase a home with a mortgage, taking out a commercial loan, managing staff

and marketing a bank branch are things I know about and I can share this valuable knowledge with our students. It will provide them with a different aspect as we prepare them to become college and career ready.”

The classes Batts is teaching at the ATC include: Business Management, Accounting, Workplace Principles, Senior Focus and Digital Literacy.

Before entering the workforce in banking Batts obtained his degree in Business Administration at Murray State University in 2008.

Peggy Ann Gilbert, 79, a resident of Fulton, Ky., died August 8, 2014, at her home.

Born November 2, 1934 in Fulton County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Eggbert A. and Pearl Bynum Phipps. She was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church and was the co-owner of the former Gilbert’s Supermarket in Fulton. She had lived in this area most of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Lee Gilbert of Fulton, who she married September 12, 1951; two daughters, Jimette Davis of South Fulton, Tenn. and Julie Wiggins (Jimmy) of Fulton; one son, Jeff Gilbert (Geri) of Fulton; six grandchildren, Eric

Hendrix of South Fulton, Kristi Hendrix of Union City, Tenn., Justin Wiggins of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Jade Wiggins of Fulton, Jentri Nelson of Jackson, Tenn., and Torri Gilbert of Fulton; and five great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Graveside services were held August 9, at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens with Paul Adams and Mike Lynch officiating.

Hornbeak Funeral Chapel of Fulton was in charge of arrangements.

“I am not in favor of it,” added Fulton County Judge/Executive David Gallagher, “but I do see the need. Free and cheap services have a cost, someone has to pay.”

The second discussion item Judge Gallagher brought before the Fiscal Court was to request funding to advertise in the local papers for names of Vietnam War veterans with ties to Fulton County. “We want to get their

name and branch of service,” stated Judge Gallagher. “We will run an advertisement in the papers seeking these names and then around Veterans Day we will run an ad commemorating their service as we recognize the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War in 2015.”

While the Fulton County Sher-iff’s Office (FCSO) executed a search warrant on Saturday, Aug. 9, on a residence located on Hwy 239 for possible drug activity and two wanted fugitives with felony charges.

According to the press release, “Once entrance was made into the residence and secured no il-legal drug activity was found. Neither of the two fugitives were located. During the investigation information was obtained that the two subjects had been seen walk-ing south towards the Kentucky/Tennessee state line. Deputies went to the area and were able to detain one of the subjects. The second subject fled into a bean and cornfield. A K-9 Unit from the Mayfield Police Department (PD) was brought to the scene to track the subject. After a period of time the subject came out and surrendered to authorities.

The first subject that was de-tained was released at the scene due to the fact that the State of Arkansas that had an active war-

rant would not extradite from Kentucky.

A female, Kimberly S. Fon-tano, Hardin, Ky., at the resi-dence when entrance was made was arrested after it was learned that she had texted the subjects and made them aware authorities were looking for them. She was charged with Hindering Prosecu-tion or Apprehension, 2nd De-gree.

Arrested were Robert Forrest-er a white male from Fulton, KY; he was charged with Parole Vio-lation for Felony Offenses from the KY and Fleeing and Evading Police On Foot, 1st Degree.

Both subjects were transported to the Fulton County Detention Center.

The FCSO was assisted by the Mayfield PD & K-9 (Brent Farm-er), Constable Doug Bradley, the Fulton County Dispatch Center, and Fulton Police Department.

All subjects are presumed in-nocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Focus during the last month for the Hickman Police Department has been enforcing the blighted property ordinance and making sure all businesses are up to date with their occupational licens-es. “There are a few businesses left that are not in compliance,” Hickman Police Chief Tony Gro-gan stated on Monday night dur-

ing the Commission meeting.“We need to take it as far as

the law allows,” added Hickman Mayor David Lattus. Mayor Lat-tus also asked Chief Grogan to focus on city stickers, as well. City stickers were due May 1. The cost was $10, but now it is $17.50.

Police Officer Phillip Burnett resigned his position, accepting one with the Mayfield Police.
